Putin accuses Ukraine of Crimea bridge blast; calls it terrorism

Source: Reuters

KYIV, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday accused Ukraine of orchestrating the powerful blast that damaged a key bridge linking Russia and Crimea the day before, describing the explosion as an "act of terrorism".

"There is no doubt. This is an act of terrorism aimed at destroying critically important civilian infrastructure," Putin said in a video on the Kremlin's Telegram channel.

"This was devised, carried out and ordered by the Ukrainian special services," Putin said.

Ukraine has, for weeks, been calling for Russia to be declared a terrorist state. The world should respond to Putin's accusation against Ukraine by finally and officially declaring the Russian Federation a terrorist state. Putin is delusional. If he wants to find terrorists, have him look in the mirror.

On edit: Upon further research about the bridge explosion, the Geneva Convention, in Article 47 states the following:

"' Article 47 -- General protection of civilian objects '
1. Attacks shall be strictly limited to military objectives, namely, to those objectives which are, by their nature, purpose or use, recognized to be of military interest and whose total or partial destruction, in the circumstances ruling at the time, offers a distinct and substantial military advantage.

Putin is wrong and if the Ukrainians did attack the bridge, they had the right to do so and should again in the future. The Russians were transporting tons of military equipment across that bridge. And again Russia, by attacking civilians, is the terrorist state.

accuse others of what you're doing.

Ukr. has every right to attack military infrastructures that aid the enemy, which this bridge clearly did.

If Putin uses a tactical nuke, he’s going to find out that an hour later, that bridge, and every bridge connecting Russian and Ukrainian territory, is going to be leveled.

Opposing warplanes will make quick work of the bridges, railroads, and factory storage yards. Military parking facilities will be erased.

If Russians were smart, they’d find a way to remove Putin, declare victory over Nazis, and go home. They are neither wanted nor needed in Crimea, nor any of Ukraine.

thinks his military is having a hard time now, by using a nuke, Russia will be a pariah in the world's eyes, its infrastructure will be completely destroyed. Russia if it survives, will be alone and living in the dark ages for a very long time.

Ukraine is fighting for its country and to regain its territory that has been illegally annexed and taken by the Russians.

This is War and if Ukraine is responsible had the right to do that as part of their strategic efforts and goals.

Russia - they are the terrorists and criminals. They attack civilian targets in residential areas. They rape and pillage and murder.

They are also cowards.

He is simply trying to recreate the old USSR with his "special military operation".
Taking back territory that is rightfully his.
Anything that hinders that is terrorism, from his point of view.

News flash! It's a war, and cutting off your enemy's supply line is a legit strategy.

Let him fume. Hopefully, he will blow a gasket.
Ukraine can help by simply playing dumb. Explosion? Not us, no idea what happened there!

This is war. The bridge attack was well executed and cut off a supply line. Does Putin have anything to say about the 17 or so civilians killed very recently from shelling? No.

I imagine we will hear about this in the UN. Whine, whine. The only thing that would make me happier, except for a complete Russian withdrawal, of course, is to see Ukraine do it again. One more time for emphasis.

I wouldn't want to be a civilian in Crimea right about now. They have a choice of going home through the front, or taking their chances on a very weakened bridge now subject to attack. Well, who told them to vacation in Crimea, anyway?

and that rail bridge has been a military target from Day One, since it's the main supply line to Crimea and Crimea is the main staging area for the Russians in the south.

They pointed out from the time it was built that it was built to their territory without their permission. Never mind Putin has annexted Crimea twice now and will probably still not make it stick.
