Trump supporters are boycotting early voting after buying debunked conspiracy theory movie: reporter
Source: Raw Story
The Daily Beast's Will Sommer writes on Twitter that he's noticed a trend among Trump supporters toward boycotting early voting on the grounds that it is supposedly yet another tool Democrats used to steal the 2020 presidential election.
"Interesting idea emerging from conservative media that Republicans should either vote in-person on election day, or not at all," he observes. "They think all early voting, even from Republicans, somehow helps Democrats cheat."

I am VERRRRRY okay with this. Remember some of us joked and wondered if we could convince the Republicans not to vote? Well someone did!!!

(369 posts)Vote in person and then try to stop any votes from early voting being counted or have them thrown out because of some technicality.

(25,519 posts)Republicans tend to favor election day over early voting. However, there is a practical reason for this: Many are from rural areas. Many times their is only one early voting site in an entire rural county and it's too far. So, they wait until election day to vote, so they can vote closer to home.
Just because they are gravitating towards election day voting does not mean that they are not going to vote. Additionally, all of those election day totals that we don't see until late in the returns will often skew towards the GOP.

Whenever I canvass door-to-door, we strongly encourage that voters request a mail-in ballot. That's money in the bank for our side.

Not gonna happen, though. He's a prick.

(38,574 posts)... pull out the argument that their candidate(s) were ahead and somehow the election got "stolen" from them.
In many states, the votes that are cast early cannot even be processed until voting ends on election night. So the in-person votes get counted first... then the early/absentee/mail-in stuff gets processed and counted, and the early GOP leads diminish--or completely disappear.

(185 posts)Early voting and mail-in voting is a great way to increase turn-out.
A lot of voters intend to vote at the polls, but then they get side-tracked and end up not following through. That's one main reason why polls (like at Nate Silver's 538 site) are often wrong.
This could really hurt the idiot Cons in November.

As in......forget showing ID.....just refuse to state your name at all.
Otherwise Soros wins.

(186 posts)The state just went from caucusing to primary voting. Big improvement! But they also have two weeks of early voting and designated ballot drop off sites. You are not limited to voting only in your precinct. You can vote at any site. They have a ton of voting sites, some are fixed locations. and some are mobile, serving people where they live or work or shop. The voting sites are open at times convenient for voters and times (which are widely publicized) may vary at some sites to accommodate shift workers.
There is rarely a long line and the election workers are everything you would hope for - welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient. If you came prepared and marked your sample ballot ahead of time, you are in and out. The voting machines tabulate your votes electronically and also print out a tape (under protective glass) of your votes so there is a written and electronic record of your votes. You have plenty of time and opportunity to review/adjust your votes before selecting the submit button. What could be better?
I feel terrible for oppressed voters in other states. Voting should be encouraged in every way possible. Voters should be invited and accommodated, not restricted and inconvenienced. Vote for Secretarys of State that work for you, not against you!
