At least 5 killed in shooting in Raleigh, North Carolina; suspect in custody
Source: CBS
Five people, including an off-duty police officer, were killed, and two more wounded, in a shooting Thursday evening in a residential neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina. A suspect, described as a White male juvenile, has been taken into custody.
...
The second wounded victim was hospitalized in critical condition, Borneo said.
The shooting was reported just after 5 p.m. local time along the Neuse River Greenway trail in the east Raleigh neighborhood of Hedingham, Baldwin said.
The suspect was taken into custody at 9:37 p.m., Borneo said, adding that "there is no active, ongoing threat." The suspect had earlier in the night been "contained in a residence in the area" by both local and federal law enforcement, Baldwin said.

Very little detail on the suspect - perhaps they're saying less because he's a juvenile.
Authorities said that he opened fire along a walking trail.

Has anyone on the right pondered how many abortions the killing of 5 adults is equivalent to? For example, does a 20 year old mean 20 years at 12 months per year divided by 9 months?

(102,283 posts)--the only thing left for me to feel relatively at peace--considering I do look around in grocery stores and malls (the rare times I go to the latter), in post offices, and crowded indoor venues... but I still "zoned out" with my beloved pup on walking trails each morning.
RIP, all

It doesn't sound like the shooter was targeting a particular type of victim (other than, it would appear, his brother).

(31,390 posts)They moved from Raleigh to the NC mountains in 2020, right before COVID hit.
I lived in downtown Raleigh for several years before buying a house being built in a new development in southwest Durham. One of the big selling points to me--by the developer--was that there would be a connection to the American Tobacco Trail at the end of the cul de sac near my house. Two and a half years later and the developer has still not connected us to the trail, and apparently--I learned last night in a Zoom HOA meeting--they won't until they finish putting in the sewer line (which will run under our connection to the trail) for the second phase of the development for which they have only just started clearing the land.
Now I'm not so sure I want to walk the trail.
What the hell is wrong with people in this country that we can't limit the access to guns?
