Biden 'stunned' by Iranian protests: 'It's awakened something that I don't think will be quieted in

Source: CNN

President Joe Biden said Friday he was “stunned” by how Iranians have reacted to the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, saying the nation has been “awakened” by the women-led protests and won’t be quieted for “a long, long time.”

While visiting Irvine Valley Community College in California, Biden made brief comments on the ongoing protests in Iran following ahead of his formal speech, saying that the US stands with the women of Iran. Southern California has traditionally had a very large population of Iranian immigrants.

“Iran has to end the violence against its own citizens simply exercising their fundamental rights,” Biden said.

“I want you to know that we stand with the citizens, the brave women of Iran, for real, for real,” Biden said, “who right now are demonstrating to secure their very basic, fundamental rights.”

Biden ‘stunned’ by Iranian protests: ‘It’s awakened something that I don’t think will be quieted in a long, long time’

I was reading an ISW (Institute for the Study of War) report and was shocked at the seriousness of the protests. A few excerpts from the report:

Demonstrators have killed more Iranian security personnel in the current protest wave than in any previous wave in the regime’s history according to regime statistics. Iranian state media reported that 26 security personnel have died.[4] One IRGC major and one Basij Organization member were killed in Beyram, Fars Province on October 14.[5] Beyram is a small town in a rural area. The killing of security officers there reflects the expansion of anti-regime violence to small towns deep in Iran in addition to major cities and border regions

Security forces reportedly lethally injured and arrested dozens of Shahed High School students who had chanted anti-regime slogans in Ardabil several days earlier, marking a serious escalation in Iran’s protest response. Iranian security personnel allegedly arrested at least seven students and beat several others, 10 of whom were hospitalized and one of whom succumbed to her injuries on October 14.[7] Iranian provincial security provincials have denied these reports.[8]

The ISW also has reports daily about Ukraine. It's the next report just under the Iran report.

An ideology that they do not believe in is being forced on them.

somehow mistaken. They are an overwhelming majority Muslim country.

Per Wikipedia:

99.98 % Islam

0.02 % Christianity, Judaism, Druze and Others.

By "progressive", I mean who don't wear their religion on their sleeves. They adopt western dress. However, they are still practicing Muslims. Much of Iran was like this prior to the Islamic revolution. However, they were still Muslim.

The following are secular Muslim majority countries:
Bangladesh
Indonesia
Turkey
Syria (yes, they are secular with a significant Christian population. They just have a shitass dictator president and ISIS running around)
Jordan
Egypt (still secular)
Irag (I believe it is still secular. They're just corrupt. Same as Syria. Have ISIS running around)
People are free to dress how they want to dress in those countries.

If you study the modern history of the Middle East from the end of WWI until now, you will see how/why it became a cluster fuck. The west conquered and divided it.

They are almost all Muslim, but Persians are not Arabs, which distinguished them from neighboring countries.

from the Middle Ages. All American women have to do is register and show up to vote to regain their rights. No risks whatsoever. I hope enough of them vote next month to make this election an overwhelming loss for Republicans because they want the US to become Iran with their brand of religion as law.

We need to convince more men to vote for more Democratic women in Congress, in state legislatures and in the executive branch.
