Ukraine says 108 women freed in swap with Russia in first all-female exchange
Source: CBS News
Ukraine announced Monday it had swapped more than 100 prisoners with Russia in what it said was the first all-female exchange with Moscow after nearly eight months of war.
"Another large-scale exchange of prisoners of war was carried out today... we freed 108 women from captivity. It was the first all-female exchange," Andriy Yermak, chief of staff for the Ukraine president's office, said on social media.
In his daily address late on Monday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said "96 (of the swapped prisoners) are servicewomen, including 37 evacuees from Azovstal, and 12 are civilians."
Zelenskyy thanked "all involved for this success... the more Russian prisoners we have, the sooner we will be able to free our heroes."

(714 posts)I would like for the two ladies who, after being captured by the Russians and being transported involuntarily to Russia, later "voluntarily" decided to stay in Russia when offered their freedom to be interviewed by a neutral party in a neutral (non-Russian) location when not under observation by Ukrainian or Russian officials.

Yes they are "heroes" and lucky to survive the ordeal, however most of them are peaceful citizens who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
