Missiles, exploding drones again hit Ukraine's power, water

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) Airstrikes cut power and water supplies in a repeatedly bombed Ukrainian city and pounded critical energy facilities elsewhere on Tuesday, part of what Ukraines president denounced as a quickening Russian campaign to drive Ukrainians into the cold and dark and making peace talks impossible.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said nearly one-third of Ukraines power stations have been destroyed in the past week, causing massive blackouts across the country.
No space left for negotiations with Putins regime, he tweeted.
The campaign of strikes using missiles, drones and other weaponry has opened a new phase in Russian President Vladimir Putins nearly eight-month invasion, as winter begins to bite. Even far from battlefields, water, heating and power are no longer certainties, with daily strikes reaching far into the country to slam utilities, sometimes faster than they can be repaired.

Ukrainians are still moving toward in taking back their lands. Russians are still dying for Putin's ego.
I think at this point in time, Putin wants to win no matter what the cost is, even if it destroys his "fatherland".

out of the country and that will include Crimea too. The only thing Putin has left is drones, air strikes, and missiles
most of which are launched from outside of Ukrainian territory.

Artem and his grandmother have been living without gas, water or electricity for around three weeks, ever since Russian missile strikes cut off the utilities in their town in Ukraines eastern Kharkiv region. For them and the few other residents that remain in the complex in Kivsharivka, bundling up at night and cooking outdoors is the only way to survive.
Its cold and there are bombings, Artem said Sunday as he helped his grandmother with the cooking. Its really cold. Im sleeping in my clothes in our apartment.
Adding to the foreboding about the coming winter, Russian strikes on Monday and Tuesday in Kyiv, the capital, and several other Ukrainian cities by drones and missiles targeted power plants. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a tweet Tuesday that over the past week Russian attacks have knocked out 30% of his countrys power plants causing massive blackouts across the country.
As the freeze sets in, those who havent fled from the heavy fighting, regular shelling and months of Russian occupation in eastern Ukraine are desperately trying to figure out how to dig in for the cold months.

President Joe Biden said Thursday the risk of nuclear "Armageddon" is the highest it has been for 60 years after Russian President Vladimir Putin renewed his threats as his military retreats in Ukraine.
In remarks at a reception for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Biden said it was the first time since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis that there has been a "direct threat" of nuclear weapons being used, "if, in fact, things continue down the path they are going.
We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis, he said, offering his bluntest comments about the use of nuclear weapons since Russia invaded Ukraine in February. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/joe-biden/biden-warns-risk-nuclear-armageddon-highest-cuban-missile-crisis-rcna51146

(9,249 posts)Oh that's right, Germany and the U.S. were dragging their feet. Not now though. Not when a drone could hit a NATO member embassy. Ukraine lost two S-300s yesterday. Things will get worse before they get better.

Raising a flag over barren stone is a hollow victory.
I hope Presiden Zelinsky one day stands in red square being honored as the true leader and hero that he is. And he gets to piss on putin's grave.
