McCarthy says GOP lost House seats because of weak Senate and gubernatorial candidates

Source: Washington Post

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who is running for speaker, put some of the blame for his party’s poor performance in House races nationwide on what he deemed weak Republican candidates at the top of the ticket.

“There are times that, if we had some top-of-the-ticket, some governor races, Senate races that played a little better, I think we would have carried through,” McCarthy told reporters Tuesday evening. “But it also is a time that we should reflect: Do we have the right candidate? Do we have the right message?”

“We won,” he added, “but we could have won bigger.”

He's blaming his own.

" ( R ) lost because (R) candidates sucked." He's not wrong, and he's not blaming somebody else.

Unless he should have said, "I'm the reason they lost." That's foolishly arrogant to claim, and to attribute.

This isn't a new claim. Months ago some RW sources said the same thing. Then they became hopeful; then they realized they were originally--"objectively right" (or, as I think of it, ob"ektivno pravil'no--so much rhetoric these days is Pravda glossed).

Your house candidates outside safe districts and NY were parroting what the governor and senate candidates were saying.

And go after Joe Biden and his son for whatever reason they would make up.

Oh, and I almost forgot: TAX CUTS for the Billionaire class (again, of course), not giving a damn about the fact that they made record profits during the pandemic up to a staggering $1.7 Trillion altogether. (They still don't have enough!)

Now THAT's so nice for the people?? Well, at least for the millions of gullible R voters out there...

Your problem, slick, is you don’t have the right VOTERS.

Those weak candidates didn’t come out of nowhere - they WON their primaries!

and the continuing anti-abortion EXTREMiSM of your party???

I think that was the #1 factor.

There might have even HAVE BEEN a "red Wave", and the "Red Wave" actually DID VOTE---
But it was overwhelmed by the votes of women, young people and African-Americans!

And yes, all your election-denying Trump-tard candidates did not help you either....
but the best chance for the Republican party in future elections, is that you
Swing To the LEFT !!!!!!!!

OMG,OMG,OMG!!! Not what you all want to hear, is it?? LOL

The worst thing that could happen to the Democratic Party,
is if REPUBLICANS all suddenly become PRO-CHOICE,
and that the VOTERS believe them!!

But yes, neither thing is likely to happen.

Sean Patrick Maloney said “I don’t blame the Governor” about five times when he summed up the downstate Dem debacle but she lost by by double-digits in the burbs and that hurt our Rep. candidates.

In Maloney’s post-mortem the first thing he pointed to was the ginned-up crime issue and the Murdoch/NYP effect on the suburbs. NYC crime stories are catnip for suburbanites and the media obliges. It’s their nightly local news excitement plus they go into the city just enough to be scared. Every time someone got pushed off a subway platform R numbers went up. Hochul being from western NY, focused on overall crime figures and just didn’t get it before it was way too late. Cuomo, say what you will about him, never would have made that mistake.
