Videos claim to show home of Iran's late leader Khomeini on fire

Videos shared on social media appear to show the house of Irans 1979 Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini on fire, with activists saying that it was torched by protesters a claim rejected by state media.
Reuters and AFP both said on Friday that they had verified the locations of video clips showing the home of the late leader ablaze, with crowds of anti-government protesters marching past, in Khomein city, Markazi province.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency, however, denied that Khomeinis house had been set alight, saying that a small number of people had gathered outside the house.
The report is a lie, said the Tasnim news agency, adding, The doors of the house of the late founder of the great revolution are open to the public.
News agencies could not independently verify the dates when the videos were filmed. Activist network 1500Tasvir said the incident occurred on Thursday.

(7,923 posts)to react effectively. A genuine overthrow is more than resistance and physical assault in reaction. There must be organized, constructive leadership to channel that energy forward beyond breaking the power of the old authority.

I doubt "natural causes" would bur the place down, so this is getting super serious. People under 30 (and many over 30) are sick to death of Iran's hypocritical theocracy, which is just dictatorship hiding behind the Quran.
Hillary Clinton was interviewed about this, and she echoed my posts, that the best thing the US can do is stand back and let this play out, interference in that country has cost them and us far too much since the CIA killed their democracy in the early 1950s at the request of panicky oil barons.
I think the announcement that the government is going to execute thousands, most for the heinous crime of taking off their shrouds and telling the Mullahs to go to hell, is what might push this over the top. They have nothing else left to lose.
ETA: I'm a little surprised Al Jazeera is covering this, they've been giving the protests in Iran short shrift. While the government of Qatar has liberalized to the point of not dictating to women what they wear or don't wear, they're only recently out from under busybody clerics who did just that for hundreds of years.
