Sheriff, group sue to block strict Oregon gun control law

Source: Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon gun rights group and a county sheriff have filed a federal lawsuit challenging a voter-approved ballot measure that is one of the strictest gun control laws in the nation.

The Oregon Firearms Federation and Sherman County Sheriff Brad Lohrey filed the lawsuit Friday in U.S. District Court contending the measure scheduled to take effect Dec. 8 is unconstitutional because it violates the Second Amendment right to “keep and bear arms.”

The lawsuit seeks to prevent the measure from taking effect.

Democratic Gov. Kate Brown and Democratic Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

Way to look out for the welfare of your people and employees. Overturn the results of an election because arms dealers are so many of us?

i'm always puzzled why they don't

i tend to attribute it to: republicans

but talk about going against your own best interest.

But of course the sentiment isn't universal. I'm not understanding how they think more guns floating around makes their job safer or easier, Bubba' who goes to the range a couple times a year sure isn't going to be much help in an emergency situation.

Ive noticed a more "for thee and not for me" approach to their gun control drives. They are usually quick enough to recommend arming up to the folks they like.

Being as it puts all the power in the hands of law enforcement.

Id rank it right up there with Reagan's California gun control.

The authorities arent likely to block the sherman county population from buying up all the guns they want.

Unless they happen to be (Fill in your scary minority of the week here)

That said, i expect it to end up in front of the supreme court before too long, and then get struck down by the injustices.

Correct.

Or rendered unenforceable when another state’s AWB is invalidated, which will soon happen.
