(2,223 posts)That is one sure way to get out of working Black Friday. Pardon the black humor, but as a current Walmart employee I am pretty certain this is the sentiment of most of my coworkers alongside sympathy for the victims. It is possible to have two conflicting trains of thoughts at the same time.

(5,121 posts)Details on exactly how many people were killed or injured likely wont be available until later Wednesday because investigators were still sweeping the store overnight to look for additional victims or people who may be hiding
The shooter is believed to be among the dead, Kosinski said, noting its not believed any law enforcement officers fired shots during the response.
Investigators believe the shooter was an employee or former employee of the store who opened fire on other employees in a break room, a law enforcement source tells CNN.
It is believed the shooter at some point turned the gun on himself, according to the source.

(1,967 posts)Here in Indiana they just passed an extra insane open carry law that was fiercely opposed by the State Police. It's extra insane because police are not allowed to ask a person if there's a weapon in the car during a traffic stop unless there is suspicion of a crime being committed with a weapon. In other words, they are now being forced to walk up to the vehicles not only blind but with both hands tied behind their backs. Within 2 weeks of the law being passed a local 24 year old officer in the small town near where I live was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop. This was the first officer killed in the line of duty in this small farm town of 6k ever.

Their first goal is to make sure anyone who is injured gets medical treatment and it's a huge location to track everyone who might have dived behind something to hide and maybe still caught a bullet.

For many years I was a member of the NRA
Quit when it became the NARANational Assault Rifle Ass
Basically, this was the same time as President Bush. He quit because it was clear the NRA had become the vile and virulently antigovernment organization which it remains today.
It is worthwhile to take the time to read the entire text of President Bushs letter resigning his life-time membership. This is available on Snopes
[link:https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bush-nra-resignation/|]
One might also consider that Wayne LaPierre, the particular target of his opprobrium, now leads the NARA. A quick interweb search will turn up information that LaPierre seems to know little of guns, is an appalling shot and an even worse hunter. Total tool.
Also, know this time was a pistol. Which is actually irrelevant. The problem is too many idiots with guns. However, if you look on the web, you'll find a lot of gun-nut sites claiming that this proves that "modern sporting rifles" (ie assault rifles) are not the problem. Nope, won't provide links, don't want to give them the clicks
