January 6 committee member says entirety of panel's work will be released in coming weeks
Source: CNN Politics
CNN A Democratic member of the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot told CNN on Thursday that the panels work will be released in its entirety later this month so Republicans cannot cherry-pick evidence when they take over the majority.
(Republicans have) been pretty clear theyd like to undermine the work weve done but were going to prevent that. We are going to release all the information weve collected so it cannot be selectively edited and spun, California Rep. Zoe Lofgren told CNNs Kaitlan Collins on CNN This Morning.
Pressed on whether that means the committee will release everything, Lofgren said, thats correct and affirmed that the panels final report will be released this month. Republicans are set to take over the House in January and are certain to dissolve the committee, and its members have signaled in recent weeks that their work is nearing a close.
Earlier this week, chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson said members are close to putting pens down. Lofgren also confirmed to CNN that the panel will consider whether to issue criminal referrals when members meet on Friday and will discuss what to do about GOP lawmakers who defied their subpoenas.

(187 posts)They are going to sue to block the release and gum it up for two years.
That is their obvious strategy. I'm just saying I wouldn't give them a heads up about anything.
Maybe I'm wrong from a legal perspective. Hopefully I'm wrong.

(128,925 posts)is redacted and nothing that might be construed/marked as "classified" (or equivalent), the loons would not prevail in any suits thanks to that "pesky 1st Amendment" that they cherry-pick for focus, only looking at the "religion" part but ignoring the "press" part.
Much of what they have done the past year has already been released and I believe this is referencing the tail-end stuff (and possibly transcripts of witnesses that are still being transcribed).

(8,818 posts)The Republican's and esp FOX will cherry pick it regardless of when it is released..........They will be bashing on the Jan 6th committee's findings every day for years to come. More precisely longer than Hillary's Emails, or Hunter Biden's laptop........
It saddens me most, that the Republicans are expending much more money, time and energy on bringing down the U.S. than was expended in all the wars starting with the Revolutionary war to create our Democracy.....
Once again, I wonder if all these Quasi-Republicans have children or grand children.......They must not, and/or just totally care about only themselves.
I believe it was Lincoln that once said: "Statesman are concerned about future generations, Politicians only in the next election..."

(3,331 posts)to be the date of release. If a reason was given for the 12th, I didn't hear it, but there it is.
I tend to think the release will have some information that may make even the most jaded take heed and reevaluate.

Not only are they keeping their records. They're making them public as well as turning them over to DoJ.

(7,849 posts)does he think sending Bennie Thompson a ridiculous screed is supposed give Chairman Thompson second thoughts about releasing the J6 report, or at least give Kevin a sneak peak so he can cover his ass prior to the release?..and does Kevin not get the committee report, in all it's stomach churning glory, will be available to the public online and hardcopy?... and if he did have success stalling the release does he not get the contents would get leaked to the media minutes after publication?..two years of this crap!!

(35,663 posts)Remember how they threatened telecom corporations for releasing their phone records in response to DOJ and other entities like J6? There were many other threats, too; so many I can't recall them all.
Silly, childish, and completely unrealistic.
