Grover Norquist: Obama Won Because He Called Romney A 'Poopy Head'
Source: Huffington Post
Grover Norquist, founder and president of Americans For Tax Reform, has a new theory about why President Barack Obama won -- he portrayed Mitt Romney as a "poopy head."
"The president was committed; elected on the basis that he was not Romney and Romney was a poopy head and you should vote against Romney and he won by two points," Norquist said on CBS' "This Morning" Monday. "But he didn't make the case that we should have higher taxes and higher spending, he kind of sounded like the opposite."
Host Norah O'Donnell pushed back. "Well, I'm not sure that's what the president called Mitt Romney, Grover," she said. "That's not the debate that was had ... he said very clearly throughout the debate that the wealthiest Americans should pay more and he won eight of the nine battleground states and Republicans failed to reclaim the White House or the Senate."

(132 posts)People in distress, such as those who have lost everything they have ever worked for, often revert to child-like behavior and speech. Give Grover some slack: he lost big. His chance of calling the shots with Congress and a weak President, which he thought a sure thing a week ago, went awry.
Norquist is a vile man, and we should expect vileness from him in his sore-loser rhetoric. Government by lobbyist that Norquist dreams of is a 100%-American form of dictatorship, but it is exactly what stared us in the face. It may be novel, but it is unlikely to be new and improved over what went on in Spain under Franco.

(24,411 posts)Norquist represents the interests of the corporate mafia that runs the world. Norquist's continual lurking around Congress is a constant reminder to our elected officials--that if you don't legislate in ways that your corporate masters find pleasing--there will be consequences.
Norquist has said publicly that any Republican who doesn't sign his "no taxes" pledge or any Republican who breaks the pledge will be primaried. The corporations and the mucky mucks will put loads of cash behind a primary challenger. Grover and friends will do everything to destroy and defeat those politicians who will not agree to have their lunch money stolen every day.
Norquist is a henchmen--a constant reminder to Republicans that their asses are owned by the corporations--and therefore, they should legislate accordingly.

His logic is something out of Disneyland. He was wrong on President Obama's margin and his belief of the Republicans holding the House as some kind of mandate which puts them on the level of the President. The media elevates him as some puppet master pulling the GOP's strings, which I'm sure is giving him some high.
He is one of the cancers for the country and the GOP. Just who is his organization. It probably is one of these small rightwing groups calling themselves Patriots. And to get more specific, one of these angry whitemales that hate minorities. It is not only Taxes that he expresses his rightwing ideology but also other issues.
He has been elected to nothing. There is no constituency in any city, county, or state backing him. He is just one individual. In other words, another wingnut. The American people rejected Romney and Ryan's Policies. Those Policies, were this little wingnut's policies.

(6,286 posts)and also draw clear distinctions between himself and Romney.
Romney, on the other hand, was a shape-shifting doppelganger who morphed into whatever was required of him at that snapshot in time. Additionally, he was too big of a coward to be his own man, and by the third debate, he had devolved into some sort of perverse parasitic myna bird, nodding and repeating the positions of its host while simultaneous trying to destroy it. He was a mendacious child in a five-thousand dollar suit.
To say Obama won because he called Romney a "poopy head" is naive at best and disingenuous at worst.
AgingAmerican
(12,958 posts)Of "Fear and smear". Rove should have been even MORE powerful than in the past because on top of his fear and smear strategy, he had fists full of corporate cash to throw at the battleground states.
Obama proved that Democracy trumps money and stupidity. Obama's campaign hired brilliant socioligist types and silicon valley types who created a very sofisticated database of potential Democratic voters in areas that had been previously overlooked. Obama's campaign team then concentrated on registering these untapped potential voters and getting them to the polls. Romneys aids were completely blindsided by this. They didn't even know these voters existed. It really was a brilliant campaign. Smart on top of smart.
Rove, on the other hand, threw handfuls of excrement around, which once upon a time served GW Bush well. Pair that with the fact Romney has zero integrity and is an unabashed pathological liar and you had the perfect storm for Romney's Defeat.
Obama used Roves strategy against him and beat him over the head with it, instantly reacting to their lies with ad blitzes pointing out such.
To beat the handful's of PAC money in battleground states, Obama's team used CAMPAIGN MONEY in battleground states instead of PAC money. This allowed them to run more ads than Rove, because the law allows candidates to bulk buy ads at a much lower rate if they use their own campaign money. Romneys campaign used PAC money in those states. Another thing, the PAC money ads run by Romney were idiotic. I saw a few of them and they were bizarre, talking about the "dangers of socialism" and other ideological tea party level nonsense.
It was the perfect storm, brilliantly played!

In fact, even if Obama used that word (which is unthinkable, even in jest), I cant believe Norquist would even repeat the word because it just makes him look like a idiot and infantile.....well, I guess that is why he used the word....he is an idiot and infantile....confirmed now.

(45,251 posts)This excuse is a two fer. Not only does it shield the Republican policies that brought us global economic disaster, but it also lays the ground for Republicans to run the most negative pollitical campaigns ever from now until the end of time.
Here's the thing. Romney attack the President's record in the Oval Office because the President had a record in the Oval Office. However, Romney also ran away from his own record and Governor and instead vowed to repeal Obamacare/Romneycare. He tried to run on the Olympics, but all the gaffes made during his pointless trip to Europe by his aide and him closed off that route, too.
So, Romney ran on his alleged success as a businessman, which was supposed to give him cred on the economy in general and job creating in particular. Therefore, Obama attacked him on his alleged success as a businessman, pointing out all Romney's anti U.S. jobs moves. Then, Romney said he was not responsible for those moves, whereupon the Obama campaign came up with an SEC filing by Romney that said otherwise.
And, Romney's story kept changing, so Obama pointed that out as well.
Both of them implied the other was being less than truthful (and so did factcheckedrs, for that matter).
When an incumbent runs, you have the luxury to attack his job performance. What was Obama supposed to attack, if Romney ran away from most of his own history and lied and shifted positions about the rest? Romney's school transcripts? Only Trump is that stupid!
