Nancy Pelosi Suggests Wednesday Announcement
Source: Roll Call
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is suggesting she will announce her plans on whether to run for another term as minority leader in a Democratic Caucus meeting scheduled for Wednesday morning.
When I see my caucus, I will discuss it with them in the beginning of this week rather than discuss it with rumor in Washington, Pelosi told reporters at a Veterans Day event Sunday in San Francisco.
Asked if she was staying on, Pelosi said, I will make that announcement to my caucus. I know that were best friends and all, but I think that I will share that with them first, according to a transcript provided by Pelosis office.
The comments come as another clue points to Pelosi opting against an exit.

(11,605 posts)I hope she is not being blamed for failure to take back the House. She had no control over the gerrymandering.

(29,853 posts)It is going to be very tough to win back the House due to the gerrymandering which occurred, and it's really not as much fun being the Minority Leader as it is being Speaker.

(9,314 posts)He is a dignified, honorable person, but I think of him as a Blue Dog even though he might not technically be. I would truly like someone more clearly to the left, but I am unsure who the other candidates might be. I do believe if President Obama starts to lean a little too far to the right on the Deficit Deal, Hoyer will lean right with him. If he is in charge, he will put the pressure on the Dems to sign on.

(94,591 posts)Regardless of whether Grayson agrees with you on issues, and you like his outspokenness, what skills at..."leadership"...does he have to be Democratic Leader?

(29,853 posts)Talk show host would probably be a better career for Mr. Grayson. The Democratic Caucus is not that suicidal to choose him as their leader.

This Wednesday is probably the inevitable. I sure hope, anyway.

(3,316 posts)but I can't imagine her running for reelection in 2014 but thank goodness there are some great politicians in San Francisco that could replace her
my favorite would be Mark Leno-current state senator, former assemblyman, and former SF supervisor and also gay
San Francisco should in my mind be represented by a gay person
Anthony McCarthy
(507 posts)I'd say her district should be represented by whoever the voters choose. David Dreier is a gay person. Lindsay Graham is a gay person. Mary Cheney is a lesbian. They can all go to hell as far as this gay person is concerned.
Nancy Pelosi was a very good Speaker, it was the Senate that killed more than 400 bills that were passed when she was in charge.
dlwickham
(3,316 posts)and it was a Democratic controlled senate at the time she was speaker
San Francisco should have a gay congress critter

(IMPEACHMENT IS OFF THE TABLE)
Anthony McCarthy
(507 posts)Look at what happened to Clinton's popularity when the House Republicans impeached him. And there was absolutely no chance that the Senate would have convicted.
Removing an American president by impeachment is a fairy tale, it has never happened and it almost certainly never will.

(22,000 posts)But I wouldn't mind seeing a new person in her spot. If she runs, she'll no doubt get the votes.
I would really like to see Reid step aside in the Senate, but I doubt that will happen.

(966 posts)If she does step down, most likely Steny Hoyer will replace her. Another good choice would be Xavier Becerra....He has been Vice-Chairman of the Democratic caucus since 2009.
