RNC Memo Cites Demographics, Bush, Sandy In Romney Loss

Source: TPM

BENJY SARLIN NOVEMBER 15, 2012, 2:09 PM

Mitt Romney isn’t the only Republican trying to puzzle out President Obama’s victory. An internal memo from the RNC credited an array of factors with boosting the president’s re-election, including demographic changes and lingering resentment of George W. Bush.
The memo, which was obtained by NBC News and reportedly presented to Republican senators this week, uses the same exit poll data available to the major news outlet and other subscribers to the data set. And its conclusions are mostly in line with party strategist’s assessments from both sides.

The most fundamental factor behind Obama’s win: “Demographic change is real,” as the report puts it. The memo estimates 3 in 10 voters will be minorities in 2016, up from 28% in 2012, a proportion that was much higher than what Romney pollsters claim they expected on Election Day.

In a section titled “What Happened?” the memo pointed to high turnout in swing states, especially among young voters, Latinos, and African Americans, as a decisive blow. In Florida, for example, it noted that “238,000 more Hispanic voters participated than in 2008 and Obama got 60% of Hispanics.”

I am currently trying to get a study done on why you lost the election. It will be titled, "The Electoral College". Now if only I had a grant of 1 million dollars, I could finish this study and publish my findings within 1 week.

Sincerely,

Ohhh Bush, Demographics, and Sandy... Hmmm couldn't be the fact that he alienated every group but white men, insulted women, humiliated Latinos, told 47% of our country to f off..... Could it be he lost the election because he is an asshole? Maybe thats it? Yes, I think the RNC left off one of the reasons...he is an asshole.

We finally have reached the tipping point where more than 50 % of the electorate DON'T have their heads up their asses.
That statistic certainly spells doom for the repubs.

Snip..

· Michele Bachmann. Mitt had to draft on her right wing to win the primary battle and when he tried to tack back to the center appeared not to be the Washington Outsider he claimed, but a typical politician with the core values of a hollowed out chocolate Easter Bunny. With really good hair.
· Newly elected US Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts. A state the former Governor lost by 23 points. Proof positive the man arouses the enduring passion of a broken garden rake.
· Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who took foreign policy off the table making the entire election about the economy which kept getting better, gol darn it. And who can forget her husband. He certainly won’t let us.
· Sandra Fluke who gave a face to the GOP’s Paleolithic Bronze Age attitudes towards women, further exacerbated by the fact that no man in the party could seemingly shut up about it.
· Michelle Obama who is just darn likable. As is her husband. A stark contrast to Romney’s cyborg demeanor and obvious discomfort around members of the human species.
· Superstorm Sandy for providing the opportunity for the President to look Presidential and for he and Chris Christie to French kiss on Atlantic City’s Boardwalk crystallizing the concept that bipartisanship is not the saddest word. That’s “goodbye.”
· Ann Romney who would have made a simply terrific first lady. For Dwight D. Eisenhower.

P.S. One disagreement with the author.. I think Ann Romney would have made a terrific first lady for Attila the Hun.
