CIA deputy: Rice got initial assessment on Libya

Source: AP

BY KIMBERLY DOZIER, ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) — Five days after the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice described what precipitated the deadly incident based on intelligence that proved incorrect, the deputy CIA director told Congress on Thursday.

In a closed-door session with the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Morell said Rice was provided with an unclassified version of events at the U.S. mission in Benghazi that left American Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others dead, according to Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., a member of the panel.

The assessment concluded that a spontaneous protest over an anti-Muslim video had evolved into an attack on the American consulate, a description that Rice presented in television interviews the Sunday morning after the attack.

Schiff told reporters that he didn’t think the intelligence community had politicized the information. “They gave us the best initial assessments, and those proved inaccurate, but they warned us those assessments were subject to change as they got more information,” he said.

was no cover up period! Information in ongoing investigations do change and it is ludicrous to say initial assessments are set in stone. The Ambassador just gave what the information was at the time because of the Public's right to know and the insistence of those in Congress, trying to make Political hay which includes Political Pundits.

In the end, this is nothing but a goose chase, trying to pin a scandal on the Obama Administration. The result is investigating the ongoing investigation before it is even completed. It is also exposing the political allies in Congress such as Senator Fienstein which some on the Left has questioned her political loyalties. They mentioned a conflict of interests which involves her spouse who have assets in the Industrial military complex. It will be interesting to see how much Senator Fienstein pushes this fa sade by her Republican friends?

Most likely not and someones head should roll for that. Again, the CIA is at fault here and should be given a proper scolding for their failures in this mess.
