WASHINGTON (AP) Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson called herself a Survivor superfan on Saturday and offered an audience of graduating law school students lessons from the reality TV show.
The show has been on television for 23 years and is now in its 44th season. Jackson said she has seen every episode since the shows second season.
I watch it with my husband and my daughters even now, which I will admit its not easy to do with the demands of my day job. But you have to set priorities, people. And thats exactly the first lesson that I have for you today, she told the graduating class of American Universitys law school in Washington.
Jackson, the courts first Black female justice, is coming to the end of her first term on the court. The justices are done hearing arguments for the term and are expected to issue all their remaining opinions by the end of June before going on summer break. Major decisions on affirmative action and President Joe Bidens student loan forgiveness plan have yet to be announced.

(3,529 posts)Several people here are negative on the show, which is fine. Just wanted to say that there is another perspective. It has elements of physical competition, endurance, and sociological studies.
Just another perspective.

(3,529 posts)I've seen most, from Richard Hatch who went to jail for not paying the taxes on his prize money to Ozzie (who I'm in love with) and the recurring Boston rob and Sandra. I prefer when it's new players best.

(2,437 posts)Thats immaterial to me. What does matter is that shes a conscientious, intelligent and caring Justice.
As to the shows referred to as reality TV? Its just more evidence that commercial TV has further descended into the depths of an intellectual wasteland. Just my 2 cents.

(61,721 posts)of season 2. That was enough.
I thoroughly enjoyed a reality show about a young chef financing and creating an Italian restaurant in NYC. That was very interesting. And the waitstaff was a huge part of the show once the restaurant opened. I think the chef was named Rocko, or something. His grandmother came in and made meatballs every morning.

(1,839 posts)I'm embarrassed for the adults who debase themselves on that and similar shows. Hopefully none of those graduates will feel the need to do so in their futures.
