Senate Democrats call on US regulators to examine PGA Tour, LIV Golf deal
Source: The Hill
Senate Democrats on Tuesday lit into the PGA Tour for striking a deal with Saudi Arabias Public Investment Fund (PIF), arguing that the agreement reeks of hypocrisy and that U.S. regulators must examine it.
The tour sent shockwaves throughout the sports scene when it announced effectively a merger with LIV Golf after nearly two years of battling with the upstart golf league. Top Democrats argued that the merger will need a green light from regulators given the millions of dollars that is set to boost the league via the PIF.
Yes, Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), the No. 2 Senate Democrat, told reporters at the Capitol. And the question obviously is whether or not there is any current laws involving foreign relations or foreign business dealings that havent been complied with.
The accord also received a scathing reception from Tri-State area senators who remain supportive of families affected by the 9/11 terror attacks. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) panned the PGA Tour for paying lip service to the game as it will now be used unabashedly by the Kingdom to distract from its many crimes.

(1,696 posts)Saudis is my view. And what did they give to see/hear about that intel.
Oh, let's start with LIV playing golf at the fuckin grifters (bank owned) clubs.
Kushner Company getting $1 Billion "lease" on a devil building at 666 Park Av. which without that lease would have bankrupt Kushner Companies.
Oh and add another $ 2 Billion dollars to the Kushner/Trump "investment fund".
The price of treason and grifting.

(51,367 posts)If the PGA is going to sell out to the Saudis, let the Saudis pay for all of it. The PGA doesn't need sponsors anymore.
The sponsors should not want their brands associated in any way with the Saudis...especially as John Smith investigates what Trump did with General Milley's top secret Iran war analysis memo. What would Prince Salman be willing to barter with Trump for to get that memo? Salman would love to know Iran's military vulnerabilities and the best way to attack Iran. Saudi Arabia and Iran have been waging a heavy proxy war against each other since the late 1970s.
Prince Salman also wanted to know who among the Saudi royal family secretly opposed him. The US intelligence agencies knew who those families members were. Somehow, Salman found out who those family members were and had them rounded up, around the time he met with Jared Kushner. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/mideast/how-saudi-royal-crushed-his-rivals-shakedown-ritz-carlton-n930396 Kushner then got $2B from the Saudis when he left the White House. Coincidence?
No doubt Trump wants to make the billions Kushner made off the Saudis.
No sponsor should want to have anything to do with that.

I was really freaked out and surprised when I heard that, especially after all the blow back from the LIV/PGA fiasco.
