Trump's Properties Charged Defense Department $1 Million, New Documents Reveal
Source: Forbes
Newly released documents reveal that Donald Trumps businesses charged his Department of Defense $976,000 during the first three years of his presidency, an amount that appears far greater than previously reported.
The Pentagon produced the documents in May, more than two years after Trump left the White House, in response to a November 2019 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from ethics watchdog American Oversight. The previous publicly known high for Defense Department spending at Trump properties appears to be $300,000, which CNN reported in April 2019.
As far as we can tell, this is the first time these specific expenses have been reportedand they are long overdue, said Heather Sawyer, American Oversights executive director. While we expect to receive receipts of government spending at Trump properties for years to come, we urge the government to pick up the pace so that the American people have this information as they consider Trumps re-election efforts.
The Defense Departments disclosure broke down spending by property and year. It only included details about one small individual disbursement, $1,680 the New Jersey National Guard spent at a Trump golf club on meals during its monthly inactive duty training in December 2017.

It enrages me that Donald tRump used the presidency to rake in millions of dollars of profits for his own properties, hotels, etc. And ridiculous how the MAGAts let that slide like it's no big deal -- what a bunch of conned, fleeced-over idiots they are...

But he followed the rules and norms, he had nothing to do with the family business while he was in office. And he had given up a brilliant career in the Navy to return to Georgia and take responsibility for the family business after his father died. Not to mention, Rosalynn was not happy.

(6,907 posts)The LAST year was the same as the first three. That really means he FLEECED the Defense Dept for 1.3 MILLION total. Add to that the BULLSHIT overcharging of the secret service when he went golfing nearly every weekend for cart rentals and such.
He wants back in about as much for the grifting as trying to stay out of prison.

(4,416 posts)That these numbers ONLY represents 3 years of Defense Department spending; ONLY they spending for which they had actual receipts filed for, and NOT any spending by any other part of the government.
DoD makes up only a small part of federal travel spending. I worked 30 years for the FAA and nobody seems to have asked the question of other government agencies, or queried the Contractor issued Federal Employee credit Card data.
I bet that would be at least as much, if not more.

(872 posts)Of course they don't want to admit that the tRump "presidency" was just one gigantic grift against the American people.

(202,970 posts)All of his previous business ventures had failed - casinos, Trump steaks, Trump vodka and the infamous Trump University - so he tried asking for campaign donations which turned out to be easy money. He never expected or wanted to do the job - and he didn't, got underlings to take care of business while he still held his "rallies," continuing the grifting. And after his unexpected "win," the grifting went batter than ever. And he still hasn't given it up, just today he asked for more donations out of sympathy for his current troubles...
