Rand Paul On Presidential Run: ‘I’m Not Going To Deny That I’m Interested’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) isn't playing it coy on the topic of his presidential aspirations.
Asked by ABC's Jonathan Karl about a potential White House bid in 2016, Kentucky's junior senator and the son of a former presidential candidate didn't hide the fact that he's considering a run.
"I'm not going to deny that I'm interested," Paul told Karl. Paul qualified the remark by asserting that he is not ready to make a decision yet and said that his party will have to make adjustments before the next presidential election cycle.
"I think we have to go a different direction because we're just not winning and we have to think about some different ideas," Paul said.

(45,274 posts)The Corporate wing of the Republican Party will never give him the nomination, but the Teabaggers will love him. Whatever remnants of the Teabaggers remain by then, of course.
This could end up as a replay of 2012, with the 'baggers getting fed up & staying home after they watch the Corporatists kick Paul to the curb in favor of Rubio or Jebby (either of whom, in their deluded eyes, can solve the "Latino problem" while remaining corporate-friendly).
Paul should be encouraged strongly to run a third-party campaign after his inevitable Primary debacle, siphoning off large portions of the nutcase vote.

(55,445 posts)He just wants to follow the paths of the old man or Sarah Palin and inflate his national profile, get some more primetime speeches and interviews, and fleece his lemming followers/corporate puppetmasters for hundreds of millions in campaign donations...

(11,495 posts)I have heard that Santorum could be running again, and then there are those who are trying to get Palin to run, and now Rand, so maybe if we are lucky we will have another "circus" full of "clowns" fighting each other in 2016 just like we had this year! Who knows Rick Perry might jump in and then there is always Herman Cain! It would be just like old times.

(176 posts)Seriously, this guy, an opthamologist, decided he didn't want to sit for the nationally recognized America Board of Opthamology qualifying exam for recertification as is required every ten years. Instead, he conjured up his own version of the certifying boards of which he is president. What a guy!

(10,274 posts)Make NO mistake. Jeb is running, because he and Rove (wrongly) think they can dodge the history of his little brother. What he doesn't realise is how visibly PISSED he gets whenever anyone asks him about GW'S time in office. That refusal to accept blame on behalf of Party, let alone FAMILY, will see him undone, no matter how much support he has among the "Base".

(2,514 posts)we just won an election by 3 points, that should have been double digits... running against a candidate that made no sense...
the truth is even a bad candidate with no adversarial press can be elected...
so while i would love the popcorn diet.. i have misgivings over any of the crazy right wing nuts... there are a large amount of folks that will vote for them no matter what... last cycle that was 47% ironically

How did this clown get elected in the first place? Was Kentucky trying to beat Oklahoma for the coveted "State with Worst Senators" prize?

(11,464 posts)one should not even joke about wanting either of them to run for anything but the border and never return.
Their master race philosophy is evident in everything they ever have done, and just because the son is not so weird looking ugly as the father, does not mean they are not racist, anti-semitic and anti-woman and would do anything and everything to anyone in their way.
Therefore, NO we should not wish Rand anything but an election lose next time he is up for reelection.
google Jorg Haider from Austria and intent and looks, they could have been clones, and both would have made Adolf proud. (let alone their friend David Duke, and the John Birch Society)

And a republican...go figure eh?
Tea Party candidate Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul named after libertarian icon, Ayn Rand, is currently under fire for taking a position opposing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and stating that he believes that privately owned businesses have the right to segregate.
