Trump Endorses Jim Jordan For House Speaker

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to become the next speaker of the House early Friday morning, saying the lawmaker was “respected by all” and had earned his “complete and total endorsement.”

“Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C.,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He is STRONG on Crime, Borders, our Military/Vets, & 2nd Amendment. Jim, his wife, Polly, & family are outstanding - He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”

Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) first hinted earlier Thursday he had had a “great conversation” with Trump about the process to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who was ousted in a shocking turn of fortune this week. McCarthy was voted out of the speakership on Tuesday after eight far-right Republicans — led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (Fla.) — voted to strip him of his gavel, a first such ouster in the chamber’s history.The move has prompted a fierce competition to replace him and become one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress. Jordan and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) have so far announced bids, but Nehls had floated Trump himself for the position.

“He is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party,” Nehls wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I fully support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House.”

Never in my old age would I expect to see what is going on in Washington now. It is disgusting and as much as I support the Democrats, I don't hear as much screaming as I would expect.

My town is divided about 50/50 R&D. The R's are always posting some baloney on our local FB pages,, the D's are quiet and hardly rebut what is going on.
If I chime in to any of the MAGA supporters, I am vilified. Can't cope with all the hate they spew.

I live in Orange County CA, which is 50/50 Dem/GOP. Dems tend to stay quiet because, like you said, Republicans will immediately attack them on social media if they speak up. So Dems in my area tend to withdraw. But they still come out and vote. That's why Biden won Orange County. Dems have better things to do with their lives than argue with fascists on social media. It is not the best use if our precious time on this earth.

If you want to do something productive, join your local Democratic Party, and get involved in sending get-out-the-vote postcards to the Dems in your area. Most local Dem clubs/party affiliates are doing something along those lines. They provide everything you need (postcards, stamps, lists of addresses). It will make you feel better seeing all those Dem names in your area, and those Dems will appreciate getting a card from you.
