Ronny Jackson Fuming at Trump WH Pill Mill Story

Hits a little too close to home.
Ron Filipkowski 1 hour ago
Former White House doctor and close Trump ally Rep. Ronny "Candyman" Jackson is not happy with the recent stories about the White House dispensing prodigious amounts of pills under his watch, including Adderall, fentanyl, and ketamine.
This past January, the Inspector General for the Department of Defense released a report showing that the Trump White House dispensed thousands and thousands of pills including stimulants like Provigil. Rolling Stone recently published a lengthy story citing numerous sources who said that the Trump White House was "awash in speed." One source told them:
"It was kind of like the Wild West. Things were pretty loose. Whatever someone needs, we were going to fill this."
Sources also told them that the anti-depressant Xanax was also a drug of choice in the Trump White House - especially among "senior officials.".....................

(17,939 posts)He's an MD and male. Short of killing people, he's probably safe. And even then it's no guarantee. Years ago, my better half and her colleagues nicknamed a surgeon "the nicker" since he had a bad habit of nicking, i.e. perforating, patient's bowels even during routine procedures, causing serious post op infections. The guy just sucked at what he did, but he was male, an MD and well liked so no one would do anything about it. Including hospital admin. Great bedside manner supposedly, but couldn't do surgery worth a shit.
That's why, if you can, it's always good to ask local OR nurses and scrub techs about a particular surgeon before going under their knife.

(22,156 posts)Ronnie boy obviously earned the title 'Candy Man'.
He's always been riding on tRUMP's coattails and didn't earn his path into the Congress by working hard, like so many actually do, in the Congress.
I guess that there are some benefits after all, in dispensing drugs. Just ask one of the neighborhood drug dealers on the street corner, they'll vouch for it too.

(352 posts)It's good for hangovers and is also considered a recreational drug in some circles (okay, by substance abusers ).
Here's what drugs.com says: "Xanax is used to treat anxiety disorders and anxiety caused by depression. Xanax is also used to treat panic disorders with or without a fear of places and situations that might cause panic, helplessness, or embarrassment."

(23,651 posts)Benzodiazepines are depressants that produce sedation and hypnosis, relieve anxiety and muscle spasms, and reduce seizures. The most common benzodiazepines are the prescription drugs Valium®, Xanax®, Halcion®, Ativan®, and Klonopin®.
🤔

(4,209 posts)Not an uncommon use. Daughter has Valium prescribed for prn use for anxiety caused by depression.

(23,651 posts)Not for depression.
All those anti-anxiety drugs are depressants, not antidepressants
✌🏻
But anxiety is very common in depression. So it was probably prescribed for anxiety caused by depression, not depression. Big difference. Not everyone who has depression has related anxiety, but it isn't at all uncommon. Just as a sideline, her mother (my wife) is an RN of 40 years. Trust me, said daughter would not be on a benzo if it was not accepted medical practice.

(16,483 posts)The excerpt from from drugs.com that was posted says it's "used to treat anxiety disorders and anxiety caused by depression."
Translation: Depression can cause anxiety. When that happens, an anti-anxiety drug like Xanax may used along with an antidepressant, to treat the anxiety. That doesn't mean Xanax is an antidepressant.
Apologies if I sound snippy. I don't mean to, but the subject of mental health meds is of direct personal importance to me. These drugs are poorly understood by a lot of people, and I just wanted to set the record straight.

(16,483 posts)That statement is simply erroneous. Xanax is not an antidepressant, but the reporter evidently doesn't know the difference between an antidepressant and an anti-anxiety drug. They got it wrong. Le sigh.

(8,068 posts)I've never heard of Xanax being considered an anti-depressant.
I'm susceptible to horrible panic attacks so I take Xanax for anti-anxiety. I've also been diagnosed by doctors as having Generalized Anxiety Disorder (It's in the DSM - Table 3.15). The medication has saved my life. I don't think I'd be able to function without it or other similar medications such as Ativan or Klonopin. But my condition is legit.
Once again, I don't know why I continue to be outraged by their hypocrisy. I mean they're screaming about the "Fentanyl coming across the border because of the border crisis"!..... And look at what they were doing...
johnnyplankton
(352 posts)I used to take an early version of Ativan (serax) for panic attacks myself.

Not the first time a doctor earned his position by being the 'go to' guy for whatever you wanted.
Really need a full list of drugs ordered over a longer time frame.

(2,196 posts)just how many high ranking officers did he hand out 'candy' to in his rise up the ranks in the Navy? History has shown more than a few flag officers were better at politics within military circles than they were at actual military performance. So, how much of the Navy brass are operating on drugs?
Edited cuz I can't type for beans these days

(5,420 posts)A comprehensive list of all the drugs entering the White House over the Trump's residency, what pharmaceutical source supplied them, and who they were for.
And for completeness, the same for the Biden presidency.
Just so we are fully informed and can do comparisons, you understand.
I'm guessing Trump himself - and his inner circle - had their own sources of drugs and nose powder?
Did then, still do?
