NEW YORK (AP) — Hiring woes may be easing for small businesses.

The CBIZ Small Business Employment Index reported a seasonally adjusted increase of 0.17% in February as the U.S. economy stays strong despite high interest rates.

Small businesses have a tougher time retaining workers since they often can't offer higher salaries or other perks like health insurance.

Nobody wants to work anymore or they just don't want to die preventable deaths from not having health insurance?

I remember the idiotic anti-ACA argument that lazy useless workers don't deserve health insurance. They should work harder and find better jobs. It sounds like a lot of workers found better jobs.

We are a small business but can't compete with the big businesses' salaries and perks and that does affect our bottom line and can't hire people because they would make more in a fast food restaurant or Target. Which we get, but we pay pretty well. We've had people come back and see if we hired anybody because they realize that their job will not help fast-track their career nor do they like working longer hours and holidays. Going from retail/fast food to health care is not a good transition nor does it provide the experience they desperately need. Small businesses help people get the necessary experience to get that big job in the big business.

I had hoped ACA would help alleviate the burden of providing insurance to our employees.
