Medical examiner's report of Nex Benedict's death released

Authorities have released the full autopsy report for Nex Benedict.

Benedict, a nonbinary 16-year-old Owasso High School student, died by suicide the day after a fight in a school bathroom with three girls who reportedly picked on them for how they dressed. Benedict told police they threw water on the girls, and that a fight broke out ending with the girls beating them on the floor until they were unconscious.

The medical examiner’s report shows a combination of prescription and over-the-counter medications in Benedict’s system at the time of their death. The report also says Benedict suffered from depression, anxiety and self-harm.

"Handwritten notes that are suggestive of self- harm were found in the decedent’s room by family and provided to law enforcement," the report reads.

Sounds like the cause of death is being beaten unconscious. Irrelevant what scrips she was on. This needs to go further obviously.

4. She suffered from anxiety, depression and self harm for 365 days before she died. One day before

she died she was beaten by her classmates seriously enough she needed medical attention.

But of course it can't be that which caused her to put an end to it all.

5. Head injuries and cuts on their face are "indicative of resuscitation

attempts"??? Could some of our medical professionals weigh in here, please. Abd exactly which prescription and OTC were present? I seem to remember several duscussions here on DU about them, but do not remember details.

They were beaten unconscious, but no charges filed? WTAF???

6. Someone throwing water to get bullies to back off

was not an excuse for the bullies to beat them unconscious. The bullies may not have directly caused the death, but they were a contributing factor.

I wonder if they feel any shame or guilt?
