House to send Mayorkas impeachment charges to Senate April 10

Source: The Hill

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and House Republican impeachment managers informed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) in a letter Thursday that they will send two impeachment charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the Senate on April 10.

House Republicans are accusing Mayorkas of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” including “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law and his breach of the public trust.”

That means the long-awaited charges will arrive in the upper chamber on the Wednesday after senators return to Washington from the two-week Easter recess.

The move will force the Senate to take up the matter, at least formally, and then Schumer will have to decide whether to hold a full trial on the Senate floor, vote to dismiss the charges immediately or to refer it to a special evidentiary committee.

Since there are loons in the Senate, a move to table might be tricky but a move to a Committee might end up happening where it will die.

they're considerably more sane than the GQP tools in congress. Just a political stunt that will be another dead end for them. They don't have anything CLOSE to the votes needed in the Senate to impeach him. Maybe it'll have a boomerang effect and the Repukes will be further exposed for killing the immigration bill. Liars, hypocrites and clowns that they are.

before this thing is hopefully put to bed for good.

As a note - they still have to allow for the "formal" presentation of the charges in front of the Senate, so I expect lots of media-on-the-steps or in-the-corridor bloviating.

Now comes an opportunity to once again tell the American public that Trump killed a bipartisan border bill just to keep the issue alive in order to benefit his campaign. This is surely going to backfire on the Repubs.

.........Some options include either proceeding with a trial, moving to dismiss the articles of impeachment in a simple majority vote or referring the matter to an impeachment committee...........
