Pence argues Trump betrayed GOP with aversion to national abortion ban
Source: The Hill
Pence said his proudest accomplishment while serving as Trumps VP was the overturning of Roe v. Wade, adding that it is now disheartening for him to see the former president retreat from the pro-life cause.
Like so many other advocates for life, I was deeply disappointed when Mr. Trump stated that he considered abortion to be a state-only issue and would not sign a bill prohibiting late-term abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, even if it came to his desk, Pence wrote in an op-ed published Saturday in The New York Times.
No, Trump said when asked by reporters two weeks ago in Georgia if he would sign a national abortion ban if it passed Congress and came to his desk if hes reelected.

(314 posts)Mikey is either really dumb, or he's subtly trying to sabotage TFG. If, gawd forbid, TFG is elected, our democracy will swiftly be executed. No more worries about future free and fair elections; those will be history. TFG won't have to worry about any promises he made before the election. His only big decision will be choosing which of his spawn will replace him as permanent dictator.
Trump doesn't care about abortion, not really. But the delicious idea of viciously punishing and subjugating women would surely be enough reason for him to sign a total ban. For now, he says anything he thinks he has to. Mikey should know all this already. That's why I wonder if there isn't an element of sabotage in his op-ed. Then again, religious zealots do tend to be that dumb.

(16,541 posts)My reading is that he thinks of their striking down Roe as his accomplishment, just like Trump did (until he realized a lot of voters don't see it as something to be proud that.
I think Pence really means what he said about his disappointment in Trump. When he was governor of Indians, he was known for his very extreme pro forced birth stance. I'm pretty sure he'd be in favor of a nationwide "no abortions for anyone, at any time, ever" abortion ban.
