Anonymous Hacks Top Nuclear Watchdog Again To Force Investigation Of Israel

It appears the hacking collective Anonymous has compromised the internal computer systems of the world's top nuclear watchdog for the second time in two weeks, Adam Kredo of The Washington Free Beacon reports.

The hackers claim to have seized “highly sensitive” nuclear data and satellite imagery from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and threaten to publish the confidential information if the IAEA does not investigate Israel's unofficially acknowledged nuclear program.

The group, called Parastoo (Farsi for bird), declared that it obtained documents from the IAEA's internal “nuclear data section”—including " Confidential ‘SafeGuard’ Documents, Satellite Images, Official letters, [and] Presentations”—and published a couple of satellite images, screenshots of the IAEA's internal system, an internal IAEA letter as well as the names and emails of IAEA judges and IAEA auditors.

"IAEA cannot just keep us away by turning off their Servers (either old or new ones!)," the group said in a statement, which also lists parts of the IAEA system it says is under its control. "There are plenty more of where this information came from but we guarantee that these information will stay in a very safe place with us. This information only released to open eyes of IAEA and independent media to real threat of world peace, Israel."

Anonymous Statement

....

We are demanding IAEA to start an INVESTIGATION into activities at Israel's secret nuclear facilities.

In response to IAEA's last official statement, we're now publishing additional information to prove our ability to gain access to highly sensitive information, Including Confidential 'SafeGuard' Documents, Satellite Images, Official letters, Presentations and etc. We hope positive IAEA's decision as an independent international organization doesn't allow this to happen again.

IAEA cannot just keep us away by turning off their Servers (either old or new ones!). There are plenty more of where this information came from but we guarantee that these information will stay in a very safe place with us.
This information only released to open eyes of IAEA and independent media to real threat of world peace, Israel. Our intentions are not to sabotage or misuse such data for any purposes what so ever.

Information listed below was extracted from one of IAEA's new servers that we have access to (“Nuclear Data Section, NDS“):

Last week IAEA chief Yukiya Amano recognized the first hack:

VIENNA | Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:30am EST

(Reuters) - The head of the U.N. nuclear agency said on Thursday a hacking incident involving one of its servers was "deeply regrettable" but suggested that no sensitive information related to Iran's atomic activities had been stolen.

Yukiya Amano said the hacking - first reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Tuesday - had happened several months ago and that the server concerned had been closed down.

The hackers - a group using an Iranian-sounding name - on Sunday posted scores of email addresses of experts who have been working with the U.N. agency on a website, and urged the IAEA to investigate Israel's nuclear activity.

Nonsense.

When Anonymous claimed to have stopped Karl Rove from stealing the election, I read right here on DU that Anonymous was just a kid with a Guy Fawkes mask, a video camera, and an Internet connection, who spent too much time in his parent's basement making videos about "conspiracies."

The head of the U.N nuclear agency must be in on the gag, I guess, 'cause DUers aren't known for talking out of their asses.

10. "...no one with a brain gives a shit about Israeli nukes"??
Tue Dec 4, 2012, 10:04 PM
Dec 2012

I have a brain and I give a shit about this. I've been worried for some time that Israel would drag the world into a nuclear war, by nuking Iran. I think Cheney-Rumsfeld were about to do just that when Rumsfeld was ousted (very probably over that issue--Bush Sr. ("Iraq Study Group," aka "Iran Study Group&quot and most of the military brass opposed nuking Iran). Now with those psychos out, Israel has even more motive to force the U.S. hand by starting the nuking themselves. Look how out-of-control the Likud is, announcing thousands of new settlements in disputed territory to foil a two-state peace agreement! I don't trust them at all. They are hotheads and warmongers and war profiteers.

Israel is much more likely to "push the button" than anyone else with nukes primarily because they know (or believe) that the U.S. would be forced to back them up. Iran's government knows that it would be suicide to use nukes, if they have nukes (or ever get them). They would be blown off the face of the earth. I don't think they are suicidal but I'm beginning to think that Israel's rightwing leaders are. On an instability index (who would use nukes to get their way?), I would put Israel above Pakistan and even No. Korea, due mainly to the U.S. alliance (assured defense against retaliation) combined with the extremes of Israel's Likud. No. Korea is not very stable and I'm not sure if they are suicidal. But they wouldn't have U.S. backing. Same with Pakistan--currently more or less stable but could be seized by suicidal jihadists, but once again, no U.S. backing. They would have to be plain crazy to do it. And they also have India as a deterrent. Pakistan launches nukes (at anyone) and they are likely to be wiped out by India.

And whether you agree with this analysis or not (obviously you don't, but others might), there is EVERY REASON to try to bring Israel into international agreements about the use, safety and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Why should Israel be exempt? I would like to see the Middle East in particular become a non-nuclear zone--because it is so unstable (not the least because of the Bush Junta war on Iraq and the on-going U.S. war on Afghanistan)--but that is never going to happen if Israel is exempt. Iran will remain fearful of being attacked and will pursue nuclear weapons as a deterrent. Pakistan will never give up its nukes as long as Israel and India have them. India will never give up its nukes as long as Pakistan has them. And yet more countries will seek nuke weapons to make them "equals" in this horribly deadly game.

Israel, really, is the key to nuclear non-proliferation and to the even better goal of total nuclear disarmament, worldwide.

It is a very difficult issue, to be sure--particularly for Israel, because it is such a tiny country, carved out of a mostly Arab region and surrounded by countries with varying degrees of hostility. Israel could have reduced the hostility long ago, and to a great degree, if it had treated the Palestinians better, but they chose not to do that--a very, very unfortunate series of decisions. So they are stuck in a hostile region and no doubt believe that their nukes are essential to their survival as a country. But why should they be exempt from inspection while Iran is not exempt? They should set the example. They should welcome inspections and seek compliance. That would be a great step toward peace and security--joining the rest of the world in a nuclear weapons control agreement. They wouldn't have to give up their nuke weapons, just agree to civilized control--to a reasonable international order with regard to these weapons.

And why they don't do this is yet another reason for my fear of Israel's nukes--that the rightwing Israeli leaders don't regard them as merely a deterrent but as offensive weapons that they would seriously contemplate using in a first strike to accomplish a political or territorial purpose, and they believe that the U.S. would back them up and join their war.

I can think of other reasons why Israel would not want to join the international community on a nukes agreement--for instance, the insecurity of information that they might give the UN inspectors (the very subject of this OP). As I said, it is a very difficult matter--on many fronts. But Israel's unwillingness, thus far, to even discuss it, sets them apart as a scofflaw country. I find this very worrisome and I have thought quite a lot about it, with my brain and also with my heart.

Especially about Anonymous. It's kind of funny to watch some folk act as though Anonymous is some well-disciplined group with a membership list of cyber-good guys out to save the world. The Legion is predominately kiddie-hackers. Anyone with any axe to grind can call themselves Anonymous and go on a spree against whatever they've got a gripe with. And this particular 'Anonymous' venture does come across as 'hey, don't look at Iran! Look over there at Israel!' I don't see how that's any better than it is when Israel and its supporters do the Look! Over There! routine when Israel gets criticised for things...

While Mosby's incorrect about no-one giving a shit about Israel's nukes, he's right that places like North Korea are far more dangerous with their possession of nuclear weapons. Israel's not going to nuke anyone anytime soon, not unless there's some massive coup and a bunch of Hebron settlers take over and get things really cooking at Dimona, and kind of forget that firing a nuke at someone nearby will harm them as well. No, the danger with Israel and nukes is that it has always refused to allow international inspectors in to inspect its facilities. And without those checks and safeguards, there's dangers with an old plant and old equipment that safety will suffer. Israel does need to comply with international demands for inspections to happen, but Iran also needs to stop its nuclear enrichment program in attempts to develop a nuclear weapon.

the US and the Soviet Union have come closest to the edge in terms of the use of nuclear weapons. There was an incident when the US dropped depth charges on a Soviet nuclear submarine during the Cuban missile crisis, and a launch was only prevented by the insistence of a Soviet junior officer named Arkhapov.

The Soviets also came close to launching after their early warning system falsely detected missile launches from the US that were due to sunlight.

The US has used nuclear weapons twice, and has also threatened their use an additional time (MacArthur wanted to use them against China).

During the 1973 war, Israel loaded 13 atomic bombs onto aircraft, and were preparing to use them in the event that the US did not airlift arms to Israel. Fortunately they were.

By contrast, the UK, France, China, India, Pakistan (and to some extent North Korea) have been relatively restrained in their use of nuclear weapons. It should also be remembered that Iran refused to use chemical weapons against the Iraqis, even after the Iraqis started using chemical weapons against them.

I suppose in short, an autocratic regime is not necessarily any less rational than a democratic regime, including when it comes to nuclear weapons.

Of those countries, Israel is the only one that has repeatedly initiated hostilities with other countries (and in the occupied territories) during the last 30 years. As well as barely-veiled threats that it will make first use of nuclear weapons to incinerate millions of civilians.

Israel's nukes are also the reason Iran is trying to get a comparatively tiny arsenal (if they really are, and the CIA and the IAEA don't think so).

Israel has been defending itself for almost 65 years from countries that want to eliminate the nation entirely. Don't agree? Then why is Syria still at war with Israel, why won't Lebanon even acknowledge Israel, why is Egypt about to tear up the agreement they made with Israel? Why can't Israelis visit Jordan or Saudi Arabia or Yemen or Bahrain or Kuwait?

Israel has never threatened anyone with nukes, for gods sake they don't even admit they have them, how could they be threatening anybody?

Iran financially supports terrorist organizations that murder Jews every opportunity they get, they want to murder all of them and the Iranian ayatollahs are all over that shit. Iran is one of the least peaceful countries that have ever existed on the planet earth, the leadership are homicidal maniacs. The people of Iran deserve better but when people are not allowed to vote this kind of dictatorship is what results.

Just in the past couple weeks Iran has executed several hundred of their own citizens, including one peace activist who was tortured and then murdered in jail.

The CIA and iaea both think Iran is trying to obtain nukes, you are obviously not paying attention beacuse it does not fit with your worldview.

We had one of these in Portland, November 26, 2010, a Somali-American student,
was arrested in an FBI sting operation on November 26, 2010, after attempting to
set off what he thought was a car bomb at a Christmastree lighting in Portland,
Oregon.[1][2] He was charged with attempting to use aweapon of mass destruction.

The most recent info I could find on how the trial is going says that the trial has
been "postponed", which was published by a University newspaper one year after
the event, which is now more than 2 yr. ago.
