Canada among least corrupt countries, report says

The annual Corruption Perceptions Index by Berlin-based watchdog Transparency International ranked the public sectors of 174 countries and territories based on the data collected from over a dozen groups, including the World Bank.

According to the data, Denmark, Finland and New Zealand ranked in a three-way tie as the least corrupt countries in the world.

Bottom placeholder Somalia elected a new government in Sepember and may be on the way to better performance under a new regime led by Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

For the sixth year in a row Canada placed in the top 10 least corrupt countries, tied for ninth with the Netherlands. Among the Americas, however, Canada was on top, ahead of Barbados and the United States.

"December 3, 2012 - (Doha, Qatar) Canada fell to 58th place out of 61 countries analyzed for their policies and action on climate change this year, trailed only by Kazakhstan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. The annual Climate Change Performance Index is released by Germanwatch and Climate Action Network Europe and is based on an analysis of government climate policy in each country.
“At a time when institutions such as the World Bank and the International Energy Agency are calling for more climate action it is disappointing to have so many countries still being reluctant to move forward. Canada is a strong example of this lack of willingness to improve climate policies,” said Wendel Trio, Director of the European Climate Action Network..."

They could change this overnight by shipping their raw bitumen straight to the US for processing.

Though, the liberals weren't much better the last few years they were in power

Australia and Canada.

Not too surprising either that Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia are tied for last.
