(160,545 posts)Guatemala Could Deport John McAfee Back to Belize
By MATT GUTMAN (@mattgutmanABC)
GUATEMALA CITY, Dec. 6, 2012
Software anti virus pioneer John McAfee is in the process of being deported to Belize after he was arrested in Guatemala for entering the country illegally, his attorney told ABC News early Thursday.
ABC News has learned that John McAfee is scheduled to be deported to Belize later this morning. But a judge could stay the ruling if it is determined McAfee's life is threatened by being in Belizean custody, as McAfee has claimed over the past several weeks.
Just hours before McAfee's arrest, he told ABC News in an exclusive interview Wednesday he would be seeking asylum in Guatemala. McAfee was arrested by the Central American country's immigration police and not the national police, said his attorney, who was confident his client would be released within hours.
"Thank God I am in a place where there is some sanity," said McAfee, 67, before his arrest. "I chose Guatemala carefully."

GUATEMALA CITY A lawyer for software company founder John McAfee says he has been denied political asylum in Guatemala, paving the way for his deportation to Belize.
Police in Belize, where McAfee is sought for questioning in connection with the killing of a fellow U.S. expatriate, say they expect him to be returned shortly.
Attorney Karla Paz told The Associated Press on Thursday that Guatemalan authorities had informed McAfee's team that his request had been denied. McAfee was in a Guatemalan immigration detention center after his arrest for illegally entering the country ended a bizarre weekslong journey as a self-styled fugitive with an active blog and constant contact with the press.

(17,301 posts)allowed some of the nastiest viruses on to my computer and then his crappy IT assistants out of India wanted me to pay them $120 (double the initial cost of the software) to get the viruses off. What a scam.
I got a local computer guy to clean it up for $50, and he informed me he had to report the viruses to the FBI cyber crime unit. I will never use Mcrappy software ever again.
Besides that, I suspect he did murder his neighbor, otherwise why run?

GUATEMALA CITY (AFP) - Guatemala refused Thursday to grant asylum to US anti-virus software pioneer John McAfee and said he would be deported back to Belize to answer questions over his neighbor's murder.
Shortly after learning his fate, McAfee was rushed to hospital from his jail cell in Guatemala City, with one lawyer saying he had suffered two mild heart attacks and another describing "heart problems" and chest pains.
It was the latest dramatic twist to the incredible saga surrounding the Silicon Valley legend whose thrill-seeker life reportedly descended into out-of-control hedonism centered on experimental drugs and prostitutes.

GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) - Software pioneer John McAfee did not have a heart attack in Guatemala as originally thought, but is suffering from stress and hypertension, his lawyer Telesforo Guerra said on Thursday.
"He never had a heart attack. Nothing like that," Guerra said in Guatemala City. "I'm not a doctor. I'm just telling you what the doctors told me. He was suffering from stress, hypertension and tachycardia (an abnormally rapid heartbeat)."
After being rushed to a hospital in an ambulance on Thursday, McAfee, 67, was later spirited out of the building out of sight of reporters and into a police patrol car, Guerra said ...
