NKorea says it has detained a US citizen

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — North Korea said Friday that it has detained an American citizen who has confessed to unspecified crimes.

State media said in a short dispatch that someone named Bae Jun Ho entered North Korea on Nov. 3 as a tourist but was detained because of crimes.

The North said the crimes were "proven through evidence" but didn't elaborate.

Pyongyang has detained and eventually released several Americans in recent years. Some have been Christians accused of religious proselytizing.

That's their MO. If you go to visit NK you have to be prepared to be very careful to not do anything to piss them off. I have a friend who went on a day tour to Kaesong and that wasn't a big deal. This trip had to have been going through China since that is the only way to get into North Korea at the current time.
