Michael Steele: NRA Press Conference ‘Very Haunting And Very Disturbing’ (VIDEO)
Source: TPM
TOM KLUDT 12:56 PM EST, FRIDAY DECEMBER 21, 2012
Former Republican National Committee chairman and MSNBC commentator Michael Steele on Friday said he found the press conference led by National Rifle Association executive vice president Wayne LaPierre "very haunting and very disturbing."
Asked by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts for his immediate response to the NRA presser, Steele initially appeared speechless.
I dont even know where to begin," Steele said. "As a supporter of the Second Amendment and a supporter of the NRA, even though Im not a member of the NRA, I just found it very haunting and very disturbing that our country now, that are talking about arming our teachers and our principals in classrooms. What does that say about us? And I do not believe that's where the American people want to go. I do not believe that is the response that should be coming out of the tragedy in Newtown."

If we go through a stop sign - we run the risk of getting a ticket
If we don't pay the rent, we get put out of the dwelling
If we get an "F" on a test, we FAIL
We can't enter a Movie without getting a ticket
And yet, a person can go to a gun shop or borrow a gun from a buddy and kill people with it!

(10,597 posts)... care for this man, and can find nothing redeemable in him. Whenever he comes on MSNBC, I turn the channel. Thank you for posting this clip in case someone wanted to see it. I didn't watch it. Thumbs down for Michael Steele:

(9,902 posts)he actually had a some-what intelligent moment.
He'll get his talking points soon though, I'm sure.

I'll listen to Michael.. he's at least tolerable. he's like Joe on MSNBC. changed from hard right to more normal Republicans.
ReRe
(10,597 posts)...he revolts me. You go right on and listen to Michael and stand up for him when he's "tolerable." And I never watch Joe Blow. Each to their own likes and dislikes, OK? I don't want to fight about it. Get a grip. And Merry Christmas.

(10,597 posts)Or are you just looking for a fight? You're not going to get one out of me. In no way do I advocate such a thing! I did not listen to the clip, so I don't know what the hay he said. Go back and read my original message again. I repeat, I give Steele a thumbs down , as I do not care to hear his voice. Period. I commented on Michael Steele himself, not whatever he said in that clip.
How many times do I have to say that? Go drink a glass of milk and calm down, for Pete's sake!

(53,661 posts)The NRA freak shriveled his heart years ago, reduced to selling his soul for money. He lost his humanity long before today. He is now merely the robo-seller of a spiritually dead thing, and a caricature of a human. A republican who is would rather die than surrender a dime of profit.

(16,188 posts)This is NOT where we want the country to go. And it ain't just us libs saying it. Next door neighbor is an enthusiast who thinks having guns in the school is a horrible mistake. He says more guns won't solve this problem and weapon-bearing is not the proper role of teachers.

(19,288 posts)For that ultimate school to prison projection than many find themselves on. Sure, just make school a little more like jail. More repression, conformity, and authoritarian control.
Will it be more Marxist or Facist?

(6,234 posts)Respectfully, I think it possible that Steele essentially woke up to who and what modern Republicans are when he was forced from his position in the party. I am not saying I like or respect the guy, and he has a long way to go to redeem himself, but I believe he might be on that road.
