Kravis, stagehands union officials announce end to strike; ‘Jersey Boys’ to open with Saturday matin

WEST PALM BEACH —
After a four-day stand-off, the Kravis Center has reached an agreement with the local stagehand union that may bring an end to the forced the cancellation of additional performances of the Broadway hit “Jersey Boys.”
Kravis officials released a statement this afternoon announcing “the resumption of the performance schedule of .. ‘Jersey Boys’ starting with the 2 p.m. performance on Saturday.” The musical will continue for another 20 performances through Jan. 6, according to the statement.
“We are very pleased that this dispute is now resolved in a way that is fair to everyone and will enable both the Kravis Center and the union to get back to the business of presenting great entertainment for our community,” Judy Mitchell, chief executive officer of the Kravis, said.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees union also released a statement trumpeting the agreement ending the 12-year labor dispute between the parties.

IATSE, Local 500, and the Kravis Center are pleased to have reached an agreement ending the 12-year labor dispute between the parties.
The agreement provides for a new 5-year labor contract, the withdrawal of all pending unfair labor practice charges, and a resolution of the back pay elements of the case.
This agreement effectively ends the current strike and allows for the immediate return to work of the IATSE stage hands at the Kravis Center.
“The Union looks forward to building a positive relationship that contributes to the success of the Kravis Center and gainful employment for the people we represent,” stated IATSE Local 500 Business Representative Terry McKenzie.
Jim Mitchell, Chief Operations Officer for The Kravis Center noted, “The Kravis Center is glad to resolve this dispute in a way that was acceptable to both sides. We are anxious for our theater operations to return to business as usual.”
The agreement comes just in time to get the employees back to work and provide the patrons a quality theater experience for the holidays.
