Pope Leo plans to give a virtual address in his hometown of Chicago - at the same time as Trump's military parade

God-fearing patriots will now have a choice to make on Saturday between watching Donald Trump’s military and birthday parade, and a special address by Pope Leo XIV.

The pontiff has announced plans to screen a video message and mass in his hometown of Chicago at the same time that the president’s multi-million dollar party will be happening in Washington, D.C. Tickets for the event, which is to be held at the Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox (Pope Leo’s favorite team), are being sold online at $5 each. As of Wednesday the 40,000-sea stadium was almost entirely sold out.

A prayer service, which is reportedly directed at young people of the world, begins at 2:30 p.m local time and mass will be held at 4:00 p.m. Both will be live streamed. Some 700 miles away in Washington, D.C., the atmosphere will be somewhat different.

Trump’s military parade is set to feature around 6,600 Army troops and military equipment such as a WWII-vintage B-25 bomber, a P-1 fighter and Huey helicopters used in the Vietnam War, as well as 25 M1 Abrams tanks, 28 Stryker armored vehicles, and four Paladin self-propelled artillery vehicles.

will have a bigger crowd size and of course No Kings Protests around the US than that POS.

That military parade should not be happening in the US, this all to show how strong. ....weak that POS is.

(rest in peace) was a humble man too. Pope Leo is already showing his goodness and political side too.

I'm not Catholic either.

I willl not watch one minute of the freaking vanity parade that is paid for with money stolen from children's healthcare. Freaking dictator is what we have in the making right now, a complete failure of this country is what Pooty's paying for and getting.

I’m not Catholic. I loved Francis.

Leo is amazing partly because OF Francis, so that respect is acknowledged.

But Leo is doing something amazing here. I commend him for his bravery and his conviction to his faith for taking action. He is putting himself in between the people and the wanna be dictator. It is what all religious leaders SHOULD be doing.

but I doubt it will be televised on TV except maybe on religious broadcast channels - e.g., the EWTN channel on cable - https://www.ewtn.com/ (I had heard that channel was not fond of Francis and is probably not fond of Leo either).

but this one, like Francis, is pretty good...

well, at least a hundred million times better
than Trump and any Republican, that's for sure.

I'll watch his message, but never Trump's vanity
parade.

because in the hours leading up to the military parade, the mass media will be focussed on somebody other than Trump.

It will be live-streamed and IF the Pope's "video message" is actually separate from the youth program and is not part of the normal Homily in the service, where it would come AFTER those programs, then it could happen right around the time of the parade.

The line item schedule has been a bit fuzzy in that regard (possibly to pump up viewing the whole thing in an attempt to catch the Pope's "message" where he might not be appearing until the end).

I hope the weather is terrible in D.C. Thunderstorms are in the forecast. I hope it quite literally rains on the Fascist Felon's parade.

I'll attend a No Kings protest with my daughters Saturday morning. I'm trying to talk my husband into going too.
