CNN The Department of Homeland Security on Thursday told hundreds of thousands of migrants that their permission to live and work in the United States had been revoked and they should leave the country, according to a copy of the notice obtained by CNN.
The termination notice was addressed to nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who came to the United States through a Biden-era parole program. More than half a million people from those four countries benefited from the program, though its unclear how many have since sought other forms of immigration relief while in the United States. The notice, according to DHS, was sent to email addresses provided by those in the program.
This notice informs you that your parole is now terminated, the notice reads. If you do not leave, you may be subject to enforcement actions, including but not limited to detention and removal, without an opportunity to make personal arrangements and return to your country in an orderly manner.
The notice also states that work permits linked to the program will be revoked and directs parolees to return those permits to US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

(2,331 posts)In his book, Thinking Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman discusses how we become aware of things without realizing it. We may see a particular person or vehicle out of place and not give it a thought. But our minds are always active, sifting and sorting, and figuring things out. In one section he talks about how it works in real life, using a game of chance. One option pays less money more frequently, compared to another that pays larger sums less frequently. Most people figure it out and choose the better option quickly, before consciously figuring it out.
In short, we are on the list, and they are watching us. Rule one - don't give up the fight. Rule two - don't do anything foolish.
Hang in there!

(2,331 posts)It's 6-1/2 minutes from Lawrence O'Donnell telling how the most stupid person in politics may have learned something. Granted, that is wishful thinking; we all know what takes a moment to destroy is difficult to rebuild and takes time.
And as much as I hope LO is correct I am also fearful that many will see Trump as a firefighter and not the arsonist.

(5,783 posts)but he will certainly cut all funds, as well as cancel all treaties. Of all the people who live in this country, the American Indians are the ones who should have first right in overthrowing this government, and kicking all the administration lackeys (high and low) out of the country on deportation notices.
And while we're all tuned in on his racism and misogynism when it comes to the hatred, terror, and dehumanization I'm absolutely sure it doesn't stop with skin color, gender, or race. Eventually they will be doing the same thing to people of religions different from their own dominionist rule belief. That includes progressive Christians, or anyone adhering to Christ's teachings as written in the Bible. This truly becomes their Beast, unless we can cut it and the surrounding facade down to unrecognizable bits. I will tell you, between what they're doing here, and all the jacking around their doing with federal funds and taxes, I'm beyond worried. I'm scared. At almost 70, caring for my hubby of 74 who really needs professional help at this point, I find myself in a world where I'm no longer physically or emotionally strong enough to fight like I did when I was in my teens and twenties.
I've always been against violence unless it was righteous. I've changed. Now I just wish someone would take out that entire top operating tier before they can kill the rest of us.

(2,331 posts)It's nice to think that we can still do the things we did in the past, like skipping the last step when going down the stairs or taking a shortcut over a fallen log or fence. But we've learned not to do those things anymore. The risks are too high. If you saw the video of how the arm of Senator Padilla was wretched behind his back while they handcuffed him, you may have thought about how much that would hurt. The same thing with how the shorter, younger man used a pinching grip under his arms. That is a very painful move and anyone knowing how to administer it knows that and has to do it deliberately. We are dealing with cruel heartless people. We don't have to fight like we did when we were 20. We need to give all our support to those standing with us.

I'm going to a No Kings rally in one of the city's I used to live in when I moved up here. There are two scheduled for about a mile apart, and an hour apart. We'll start at the first and when it's finished, walk down to the second one about a mile away. I'm already making plans on what to take that will let me walk that mile without my hip buckling on me. But damn it, the rally this week, feels important to be a part of. They're all important, don't get me wrong... but trump has pushed the envelope too far this past week to just participate virtually this time. My intuition is telling me we're on the cusp of something major happening... and I can't tell whether its good or bad. Just that its not something to miss.
I know how those holds felt on Padilla. I was part of P.A.R.T. training (Physical apprehension and restraint techniques) when I was in the Air Force. We learned those and more, and that was back in the 70's. It's only gotten more intense since then.

(2,331 posts)Can you make write NO KINGS on a piece of cardboard and give it to someone for the second rally? You would be there vicariously.

(5,783 posts)If it begins to buckle, I know enough to turn around and head back to the car and call it a day. I'm also concerned about hubby... walking is not his forte, and it's suppose to really warm Saturday. I don't want to see him push himself, either. So I'm thinking my hip could be an excuse to get him back to the car, if necessary. I'm trying to game it all out, and hoping against hope to see friends there I've not seen for years. But we moved out of the area over a decade ago. I don't know if I'd recognize anyone at this point, and I've changed so much... from an obese but get-up-and-go person, to a 95 pound little old lady with silver hair, I don't know if they'd recognize me! (LOL) I also plan to leave our plans with friends here in LV, just in case... at least, if anything happens, we'll be in a city with hospitals. Which is more than I can say for the little city where we live now.

I am sure the pets of Springfield, Ohio are breathing a sigh of relief that the Haitians have been ordered to leave.
Did anyone in this TACO Don regime even stop to think what all this will do to the overall economy of this country? Those employing these hard working people have to be scratching their heads as to how they are going to fill these jobs.
There goes a lot of states that tend to vote Republican...Florida(where there are heavy Venezuelan, Haitian, and Cuban populations. Ohio, Texas, and other southern states.
