Joe Rogan Feels Trump Betrayed Him on Immigration

Source: Gizmodo

-snip-

Rogan, who endorsed Trump just hours before the 2024 presidential election, now says he was misled by the man he helped boost into office. The podcaster and UFC commentator, known for giving a platform to anti-cancel culture figures and free speech advocates, is now accusing Trump of betraying the very values he campaigned on.

“We were told there would be…,” Rogan began during a July 2 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, before trailing off and recalibrating. “There’s two things that are insane. One is the targeting of migrant workers, not cartel members, not gang members, not drug dealers, just construction workers showing up at construction sites, raiding them. Gardeners. Like, really?”

-snip-

“Fascism is the response almost always to communism,” Rogan said on the same podcast, quoting ANthony Rispo, a student of psychology and neuroscience at Columbia University. “What we experience in this country is this continual overcorrection. Overcorrection to the left, then overcorrection to the right, to counter that.”

In other words, Rogan is wondering if Trump’s policies are an overcorrection too far, and if they resemble fascism more than freedom.

Rogan's support of Trump had followed Musk's, and the article points out that with both now disillusioned, Trump could lose the support of many of the "disaffected men, anti-establishment voters, young libertarians, and people tired of traditional politics" who make up their followers/audience.

Rogan also complained about people being deported or threatened with deportation just for being critical of Israel.

Stated in the form of a question because that’s one of Rogan’s tricks. He asks questions (with a point) but doesn’t state things very often.

His guest, Amjad Masad, the Palestinian founder and CEO of the coding platform Replit, agreed. The two were discussing the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigrants, especially in the context of escalating tensions over Gaza and political speech on U.S. campuses.

Masad brought up recent reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeting Palestinian students and immigrants on flimsy pretenses. “Did you see the video of the Turkish student at Tufts University who wrote an essay?” he asked.

Rogan responded, incredulous: “It was just critical of Israel, right? And that’s enough to get you kicked out of the country?”

The fact that he's got a social media platform doesn't make him educated. He's obviously got no historical or political science background and is just blowing words out of his ass. People can listen to his drivel, or they can pick up a book or two by Timothy Snyder if they want to know about the etiologies of fascism.

I imagine it would be pretty easy to find in his shows many instances when he supported mass deportations of not just those who have committed violent crimes but everyone who is undocumented.

Notably, he doesn't seem bothered at all by the cut of $1 trillion to healthcare over the next ten years. And I'm sure he's hunky-dory with RFK Jr's nonsense.

He was a Bernie Bro (in the past he had Bernie on numerous times) and always spoke of never having voted for a Republican before this election in his life. . He says he’s socially liberal. He might have some Independent tendencies as he has on Dave Smith a lot but so do many shows . Crystal Ball is bringing on Dave Smith a lot too. Dave Smith, Crystal Ball & Rogan all have been speaking up against the genocide in Gaza -

He was attacked big time over ivermectin with many calling for his removal from Spotify . That might have affected his politics. I think his friendship with Elon might have affected him negatively as he said “his 3 hr interview with Elon made the most compelling case for Trump. In 2020, he supported Bernie Sanders and in 2024 Robert Kennedy when Kennedy was running for president before he joined with Trump.

He has so many comedians & sports people on but he sometimes has interesting guests and I will listen to those podcasts. Last week he had Bernie on and it was good to listen to Bernie for almost 2 hours.

Rogan's just an idiot with a microphone and an audience. His political convictions change depending on who his guest of the week is. If he has Bernie on, he parrots Bernie; if he has Elon on, he parrots Elon. The man's as stupid as a rock, and spineless in the bargain -- a perfect Trump follower.

From his first term, it was clear to anyone paying a modicum of attention that trump lies. All the time. About any- and everything. He, like a toddler pushes boundaries; he carries grudges and avenges any and all grievances. He let everyone know, he intended not to govern but to rule like a dictator. His hatred for Latin Americans was always clear and left no doubts. Now, he's building concentration camps and threatening legal, American citizens. If he didn't see fascism coming with trump, he lacks the ability to connect the dots and that is on him.

Or at least wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism

Although Liberalism does have some elements of Socialism in it, it is definitely different than both Socialism, and Communism.
Far-left liberals support private enterprise, but with a social conscious that seeks to help those in need, while putting constraints on those people and companies that adhere to a philosophy of self enrichment at the expense of society.
Also, far-left liberals would never advocate the government ownership and control of everything that is at the core of communism.

articles saying that Crumb The 1st might lose the support of the people who follow Rogan etc. Crumb The 1st doesn't give a damn about that because he's got the power now and doesn't need them in order to stay in power. With voter suppression and gerrymandering turned up to the nth degree the people around him are planning on keeping control of Congress after the mid-terms. With the explosion of the ICE budget and the massive hiring of American Gestapo goons to come you can count on them being deployed at the polls and at ballot drop boxes and any registration drives. Then on Election Day they will likely engage in shenanigans to claim that various voting sites need to be closed or restricted because of a "security" situation. Of course those sites will be in Democratic areas only.

People might think a judge might order extended hours for voting but do these people have a track record of following orders from the courts? Not really. Then we'll hear "It's too late now to to go back and correct the situation."

As soon as the next trump like figure appears they will run to that person.
Many of the Bernie bros turned to trump in 16 when Bernie lost to Hillary. I am of the belief that it wasn''t Bernie's message they liked, it was that the was running against HRC.
Their sexism and misogyny runs deep. People who are bigoted against one group of people, more than likely share the same disdain for others.
