Trump's prosecutor for Upstate NY says judges want him to stay on the job. Judges: Not so fast

Interim U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III set off a firestorm Friday when he told a TV station that a panel of federal judges decided he should remain on the job as the top federal prosecutor for Upstate New York.

But a panel of nine U.S. District Court judges for the Northern District of New York quickly refuted Sarcone’s claim that they agreed to extend his appointment beyond the 120-day limit for interim appointees. “The board of judges of the Northern District of New York has taken no action with respect to U.S. Attorney Sarcone,” the judges said late Friday afternoon in a rare public statement about a personnel matter.

Under a federal statute, the judges have the power to extend the appointment of an interim U.S. attorney or remove that person from the job if the president has not nominated a replacement after 120 days.

Sarcone’s term expires next week. At that time, federal judges can appoint someone else to the post in the absence of action by President Donald Trump or the Justice Department. The panel of federal judges met June 27 but did not announce any decision. Sarcone did not respond to several requests for an interview from syracuse.com | The Post-Standard over the past two weeks.

Well, that and the United States Government.

Are we so easily conned by lies? Or is it that we do it so much in our normal lives that we have 'normalized' it?

who have mastered the art of "prevarication", and a pile of them manage to get elected to office. George Santos is the poster child of such and has apparently done it much of his life.

But then when it comes to those who DO run for elective office, you have the media who has fallen down on the job of late by not catching this sort of thing before they get elected.

They have no morals. They are just following the money, just as any good capitalist would.

I think it is more that we want to 'feel good' about things as opposed to facing harsh reality. We would rather lie than admit something real that we may not like.

aiming to calm some mental anxiety or calamity.

But you still have those who intentionally do it for personal gain and nefarious purposes, and that type needs to be called out by "the 4th estate" before they are put into positions of power.

It is just that the '4th estate' is relying on those who are not on the same page as said 4th estate.

The goal of the 4th estate is to resist corruption and tyranny in the government.

The goal of the media is to become rich. They look to which stories will get them there. They don't care what the story is about.

They get more clicks from the stories they are running than playing 'citizen detective'. They don't have to risk upsetting the orange gibbon either.

Fortunately, we have the internet. We don't have to filter our narrative through a press that doesn't want to draw the wrong kind of attention. We really need to start using this resource better. The right has flooded the world with its content.

Have we?

I guess 32 counties would cover a lot of the state, since one of the linked articles said this included the Capitol Region which my county is a part of.
