'Colossal mistake': Sen Mark Kelly doesn't hold back with attack on GOP

Source: Raw Story

Congressional Democrats have wasted no time in going after Republicans who voted for the federal tax and spending bill that will cut health insurance and food benefits for the impoverished and disabled to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy.

Arizona U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly did just that during a Friday morning press conference at the IBEW Local 640 electrician’s union building in Phoenix, where he slammed Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell for saying that people will “get over” losing their Medicaid coverage.

“Trump and Republicans in the House and the Senate, they were hell-bent on passing tax cuts for rich people and tax cuts for big corporations, and, to be honest with you, they did not care about anything else,” Kelly told reporters, community members and advocates for the programs facing cuts.

Just one week earlier, President Donald Trump signed into law his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” after it narrowly passed through both chambers of Congress with only Republican support, including from all of Arizona’s Republican Congressmen: Andy Biggs, Juan Ciscomani, Eli Crane, Paul Gosar, Abe Hamadeh and David Schweikert.

Just because Trump’s big bill passed doesn’t mean this fight is over. For folks who are going to lose health care or food assistance, it’s just beginning.

Today I’m in Phoenix to lift up the voices of those Arizonans and remind them that Trump and Republicans in Congress may Show more

Last week, Trump and Republicans in Congress got their way. They passed their big bill that rips away health care from millions of Americans and adds trillions to the debt—all to pay for tax cuts for rich people.

They’re going to regret it, and I’m planning to make sure they do.

Republicans in Congress don’t care about families that won’t be able to afford a doctor’s visit or rural hospitals that will close. But they will care when they lose elections. They can hide and skip town halls, but next November, they’ll have to answer to their constituents.

Faux Noise and all of Chump's government are lying to the American voters. We need to know what's being taken away.

This is part of an intentional strategy to use the government to take from the poorest and give to the richest.

And every Republican supports this. The only GOP votes against it were from Republicans who say it did not cut enough.

I am a lymphoma survivor.

I was first diagnosed in 1990; It returned in 2019 for the third time.

Three things had to happen for me to reach remission in 2022.

The ACA failed repeal in 2017; Trump pushed for this and McConnell voted for the repeal.
A new drug was approved by the FDA in 2020; the drug worked for me after 4 previous therapies over 2 years failed.
My healthcare provider successfully appealed the denial of the above drug.

I would not had gotten over this, whatever McConnell says.
Between the 4th and 5th treatments, my mobility had declined and I had to use a walker.
If the fifth treatment did not achieve remission, it was possible that paralysis would have preceded death; this was an aggressive lymphoma, when it returned in 2019, it was near my spinal column.

It will take a Democratic Congress, Senate and President to fix what Trump has broken.

Reestablish cancer research.
Remove life and death decisions from healthcare providers.

... Paul Gosar's name in the list of Arizona's Republican shitstains that voted for this abortion of a bill. Gosar's been keeping a pretty low profile, but make no mistake; he is a raging psychopath whose siblings won't even let him in their homes. His bizarre facial contortions, called tardive dyskinesia, may well be caused antipsychotic medications. Even his fellow Republicans avoid him like the plague, but they help him stay in office for that one vote. God damn the malevolent swine that keep voting for him.

What are your thoughts on Senator Kelly running for the Democratic nomination in 2028? I would like to think he would be an exceptional candidate and would bring Arizona back in the blue column

and we need to keep whatever (D)s we can muster there. I would hate to see his seat go back to (R) since he and Gabby are very popular there and it took quite a bit for Gallego to make sure his Senate seat remained in the blue column (after Sinema squandered her time in it).

The effect date is so important for some of the cuts because Trump is going to try to blame them on Dems around election time.
