Secretive George Zimmerman escape plot revealed in court documents

Source: The Guardian

An extraordinary movie-like plot to move accused murderer George Zimmerman into hiding disguised in a hat and fake glasses has come to light, courtesy of a private investigator's legal attempts to recoup $27,000 in unpaid security bills.

A lawsuit filed in Florida by an Orlando security company gives a detailed account of the secretive "jail escort plan" Zimmerman's lawyers commissioned to spirit away the man who shot and killed teenager Trayvon Martin once he was released from prison on bail.

According to court documents, armed bodyguards from Associated Investigative Services (AIS) were to meet Zimmerman at the Seminole County jail and dress him in body armour before speeding him off in a rental vehicle previously checked for hidden GPS tracking devices.

Then, Zimmerman's handlers were to deliver him to the disabled bathroom of a busy hotel in Orlando where he would dress in a new shirt, hat and glasses before casually walking out to a different vehicle and being driven to a safe house.

All parties involved with the making of the contract could be subject to criminal charges.

It's no surprise that the murderer would want to run from the law, he is a scumbag and the public deserves to be protected from violent gun owners like him.

The headline is misleading; he wasn't "escaping" from jail; he was escaping from the crowds outside the jail. He had been released on bail.

I love how so many of the "law-abiding" gun owners are, well, just common criminals.

The fantasy-escape, though, is straight out of the rest of the fantasies that Delicate Flowers have circulating thru their heads: the Rambo Syndrome, the "Wolverines!" Syndrome, or the "I'll be safe if only I keep a gun around!" idea.

99.999% of legal gun owners never shoot anyone. While technically Zimmy was a legal owner, his prior police record for domestic abuse and assaulting a LEO should have prevented him from legally owning a gun.

Well we might as well take away speed limits because X% of people never speed.

In fact, let's take away laws on murder since - gasp! - 99.999% of people never murder anybody.

And I love the qualifier - "legal" gun owners. I know that one microsecond after a "responsible gun owner" commits a crime, he gets put into another statistical category so the NRA can continue to claim that guns are better than gold-encrusted unicorns.

Have you forgotten that NRA Talking Points (AKA Big Lies) are transparent???

I don't pay any attention to them, I get my facts from DOJ and CDC websites. I appreciate hearing the opinion of someone on NRAs mailing list.

Oh yeah, I can just see you perusing those tables of statistics, poring over them like a detective, searching for a needle in the haystack to make your Precious look like manna from heaven. I bet you spend hours on them!

I guess you don't spend any time researching actual govt data? That figures, I generally find the anti zealots are just pulling "facts" out of their asses. Thanks for the confirmation.

The new lawsuit is one of several legal side issues swirling around Zimmerman, who is in hiding somewhere in Seminole County on $1m bail until his trial in June.

He is suing television network NBC for allegedly altering a recording of his 911 call to the Sanford police department on the night of the shooting to make it appear that he pointed out the teenager's race without being prompted.

Shellie Zimmerman, meanwhile, was charged with perjury after she gave evidence at her husband's bail hearing in April that the couple were virtually penniless when, in fact, they had access to tens of thousands of dollars of public donations.

Brazenly scamming everyone it seems -hopefully not a jury

There's nothing in this description that is "illegal". This was apparently an effort to keep him isolated from the press and any likely protestors. He had been released on bail, and this was the plan to move him into a secure location. There's enough to dislike about Zimmerman without manufacturing new allegations.

Such a misleading headline, Shame on you for doing that in an attempt to turn more opinions against this guy. A clear cut example of whats wrong with todays media is on display right here. Creators are fully aware of americans poor attention spans i.e. focusing on the headline of the story but failing to read or comprehend what was actually written.

The man had been released and for his safety they came up with a method to get him someplace safe.

He wouldn't have thought he was in danger, walking to the store for Skittles and tea. But George Zimmerman shot him dead. I am not concerned for George Zimmerman's reputation - it's already set in stone. George Zimmerman kills kids. That's all I need to know.
