These drivers should have been armed and prepared to defend themselves. How silly of them not to have been packing heat!

(22,974 posts)I'm sure this murderer had a gun because he lived in fear --- and he ended up being the terrorist.
How sad to need a gun to feel safe. I call it cowardice.

A 74-year-old man has made his first court appearance today after he allegedly shot dead two tenants following a dispute on where they parked their cars during a snowstorm.
James Pak did not enter a plea during a brief court appearance on Monday afternoon in York County Superior Court in Alfred, Maine. He is being held without bail, according to Deputy Attorney General Bill Stokes.
Pak is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 19-year-old Derrick Thompson and his 18-year-old girlfriend Alivia Welch in Biddeford.

(160,542 posts)That's the line of logic some DU poseurs apply to tasers, police shootings, etc.
Nice and neat. And evil.

(2,117 posts)Several neighbors, who said they heard the argument over parking, said Pak was known for his short temper.
Andrew Lemelin, 19, who lives across the street from the Pak home, said that Pak is known in the neighborhood for getting angry at his neighbors.
Lemelin said he had done some work for Pak earlier this year.
Pak was not happy with the teenager's performance and wrote a letter to Lemelin's father asking for his wages back. Lemelin said his father declined to repay the wages. Pak then left a message on the Lemelins' answering machine that Lemelin described as disturbing and threatening.
Lemelin said his family turned the message over to Biddeford police but nothing more came of the incident.
"He seemed like the kind of person who could deal with it without guns," Lemelin said.

(12,022 posts)and also drunk. Anyone want to guess this is early dementia?
Why is it we can take driving privileges away from incompetent seniors, but we can't take away their guns?

(26,077 posts)I know people whose relatives have had their guns seized because of dementia. It's just a more complicated process than a DL, because there's a test the DMV can make you take. Even then, if you pass the tests, they can't take your DL without a court order, order from several physician's, or whatever protocols your state has in place.
Someone needs to be legally declared incompetent to get guns seized, and that isn't an easy process.

(12,022 posts)we had to sneak into his closet and secretly dismantle his gun. It was the quickest way to make sure it happened. Plus, when a gun-loving senior realizes you're about to take away his weapons, all hell can break loose.
