AMR pilots’ union board approves merger framework MOU

Source: ATW

By Karen Walker

The board of the Allied Pilots Association (APA), the union representing American Airlines’ pilots, has approved a proposed memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would serve as a framework for the pilots of American and US Airways if the two companies merge.

The APA board has issued a statement saying that its board of directors approved the proposed MOU by an 11-5 vote.

It said details of the MOU could not be disclosed because of a non-disclosure agreement and Securities and Exchange laws. The MOU would become null and void if no merger occurs.

The vote is another step in progress towards a potential merger as American’s parent company, AMR Corp., works towards exiting the Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection it has been operating under for 13 months.
