Clinton's clot located between brain and skull, doctors say

Source: CNN

(CNN) –

Hillary Clinton's doctors said Monday that the secretary of state's blood clot is located "between the brain and the skull behind the right ear."

Clinton remained hospitalized Monday at New York Presbyterian Hospital for a clot that was discovered during a follow-up exam related to a concussion she suffered this month, her spokesman said.

Read the full statement from her doctors:

"In the course of a routine follow-up MRI on Sunday, the scan revealed that a right transverse sinus venous thrombosis had formed. This is a clot in the vein that is situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear. It did not result in a stroke, or neurological damage. To help dissolve this clot, her medical team began treating the Secretary with blood thinners. She will be released once the medication dose has been established. In all other aspects of her recovery, the Secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery. She is in good spirits, engaging with her doctors, her family, and her staff."

- Dr. Lisa Bardack, Mt. Kisco Medical Group, and Dr. Gigi El-Bayoumi, George Washington University

(not long, I'm sure) before Hill's doctors are accused of being part of 'the conspiracy' to shield her by 'fabricating' medical evidence of her condition.

Figured as much.

Maybe the next announcement will be that the doctors who are in on the "shield Hillary" conspiracy are the same ones who conspired to forge a birth certificate in Hawaii for a child born in Kenya.

I had surgery for two within 4 days about 5 weeks after a car wreck. Hers could be a chronic due to her fall and is often treated with medicine to get rid of clot.

I feel sure she will have the BEST doctors to help her. Still, she is older than I was at the time, and there is reason to be concerned. Am lighting a candle and sending prayers for her complete recovery.

A blood clot in the brain is very serious. It is what killed my grandmother. The clot burst and she had a massive stroke. However, she didn't get the blood thinners the way Secretary Clinton is. She should be absolutely fine since the doctors have found it and are treating it. Fortunately she had that follow up visit after her concussion. Here's wishing to her full recovery and ability to rest before 2016!!!!!

It's not usually a big procedure as brain surgery goes.

between the brain and the skull that quickly caused a huge pressure buildup, swelling, and herniation--basically squashed the brainstem--the head is a closed compartment, when the pressure increases inside it, the brain gets squished down and out into the spinal opening at the base of the skull. Hillary's sounds like a slow venous bleed under a layer of the brain's covering that clotted itself off. I am just guessing, though.

Acute subdurals are very dangerous and even life threatening. Chronic subdurals almost always have a better outcome. I had a chronic, had surgery. I then followed it up with acute. I spent two weeks in ICU and missed 4 months of teaching.

The blood must have come from a small rupture in a vein in the brain. If the vein has healed, that's good. But if the vein is plugged by some blood clots, the blood thinners will cause circulating blood to desorb the clot and cause more bleeding.

I'm on blood thinners, and early on, had to deal with some terrible side effects in the form of heavy bleeding. Warfarin and heparin are life-saving medications, but can also cause a lot of problems with uncontrollable bleeding.

This is not the first time she's had a clot. In her book, she mentioned having one below the knee. I hope she gets tested for blood clotting disorders.

Hillary has a "right transverse sinus venous thrombosis". A clot in a vein behind her right ear. The clot is between her brain and skull, that's the good news. According to my friend that is much better than a clot in the brain itself.

I'll remain worried until we see her again in public. In the meantime I'll continue to pray for a speedy and full recovery.
