Paul Ingrassia, Donald Trumps nominee to oversee federal whistleblower protections, has dropped out after racist text messages he sent surfaced this week.
Ingrassia, currently a White House liaison at the Department of Homeland Security, was the subject of a report on Monday published in Politico. The report featured text messages where he allegedly described himself as having a Nazi streak and suggested Martin Luther King Jr Day should be tossed into the seventh circle of hell.
In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday evening, Ingrassia said: I will be withdrawing myself from Thursdays HSGAC hearing to lead the Office of Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time.

The 30-year-olds attorney, Edward Paltzik, questioned the authenticity of the messages to Politico and suggested they could be AI-generated. He said they were self-deprecating and satirical humor, adding that his client is the furthest thing from a Nazi.

(11,776 posts)Using an Italian slur for Black people, Ingrassia wrote a month earlier in the group chat seen by POLITICO: No moulignon holidays
From kwanza [sic] to mlk jr day to black history month to Juneteenth, then added: Every single one needs to be eviscerated.
I do have a Nazi streak in me from time to time, I will admit it, Ingrassia responded, according to the chain. One of the people in the text group said in an interview that Ingrassias comment was not taken as a joke, and three participants pushed back against Ingrassia during the text exchange that day.

(6,557 posts)It is an Italian-American slur based on Sicilian dialect. He can't even be bothered to spell it correctly because he's so far from any Italian language roots that he has managed to gin up some goofy French spelling. The word he's looking for, in Sicilian dialect, is "mulignana," which would be spelled mulignan' if one wanted to spell it phonetically the way these doo-ta-doos pronounce it.
The Italian term for eggplant is melanzana, and nobody uses it that way except these cretini and two-bit wanna-be mafiosi who don't even speak Italian.
Sorry, I'm just so tired of this shit where Italian-Americans have to be represented by the most ignorant shitheads in the room, like this fucking bozo.

(11,776 posts)In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didnt have a hotel room.
Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.
The woman, a fellow Trump appointee, initially protested the room arrangement. But, not wanting to cause more of a scene around other colleagues, she relented, according to the officials. So the two, who knew each other previously as friends, went to the room and slept in separate beds. Ingrassias attorney said no last-minute changes were made to the hotel reservations.
Whats not disputed is that the two ended up sharing a room on the business trip, and that it resulted in an official investigation.

(6,557 posts)On expects that he meant a variation of muliciana or mulignana, both Sicilian dialectical terms for "eggplant" that idiotic NY Italian-Americans have been using a slur for black people for many years (it appears in Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, and Giuliani's people famously encouraged the chant "Fuck the Moolie Vote for Giuli" during his second run against David Dinkins).
By the way, the Italian word for eggplant in melanzana, and I've never heard anyone in Italy (or even Sicily) use the term in the racist NY Italian American way. The fact that this Ingrassia clown spelled it "moulignon," which looks really French, tells me everything I need to know: far divorced from his Italian heritage, he's cobbled together this fake ass third-gen nonsense and very likely couldn't string together a sentence of Italian if you paid him.

Paul Ingrassia withdrew his nomination to lead the Office of Special Counsel, a day after POLITICO reported a slew of inflammatory texts he made to fellow Republicans in a group chat, according to the messages.
Ingrassia was set to testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Thursday. But several Republican senators came out against the 30-year-old lawyer, dooming his bid.
I will be withdrawing myself from Thursdays HSGAC hearing to lead the Office of Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time, Ingrassia wrote in posts on Truth Social post and X. I appreciate the overwhelming support that I have received throughout this process and will continue to serve President Trump and this administration to Make America Great Again!
Hes no longer being nominated, a White House official said.
On Monday, POLITICO reported that Ingrassia made a number of offensive remarks in a text message chain and said he had a Nazi streak, according to the messages. His lawyer did not confirm the texts were authentic and said they could be manipulated or are being provided with material context omitted..................
