US military planning for divided Gaza with 'green zone' secured by international and Israeli troops

Source: The Guardian

Exclusive: Almost all Palestinians have been displaced to ‘red zone’ where no reconstruction is planned

The US is planning for the long-term division of Gaza into a “green zone” under Israeli and international military control, where reconstruction would start, and a “red zone” to be left in ruins.

Foreign forces will initially deploy alongside Israeli soldiers in the east of Gaza, leaving the devastated strip divided by the current Israeli-controlled “yellow line”, according to US military planning documents seen by the Guardian and sources briefed on American plans.

“Ideally you would want to make it all whole, right? But that’s aspirational,” said a US official, speaking on condition of anonymity. “It’s going to take some time. It’s not going to be easy.”

The US military plans raise serious questions about Washington’s commitment to turning the ceasefire announced last month into an enduring political settlement with Palestinian rule across Gaza, which was promised by Donald Trump.

Israeli troops securing a "Green Zone"?
Isn't that like letting the fox guard the chicken coop?

Into a smaller area then before and stealing their land and homes and forcing them to live in a perpetual police state with no rights or freedom of movement.

Sounds like a concentration camp to me.

I am convinced that she would be appalled that the Israel government

has become cruel & Nazi like in this time period.
She was a thoughtful and credible human being. I weep that her courage, integrity, has been underlined and forgotten.

point out the IDF doing their typical IDF thing to residents that will be the end of those particular international soldiers being assigned there. I expect a large presence of squatters coming in to live in this newly "claimed" land also.

The term "forcible transfer" describes the forced relocation of civilian populations as part of an organized offensive against that population. It is a crime against humanity punishable by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
