Internet erupts as MAGA influencers exposed for being based in other countries

Source: Raw Story

November 22, 2025 8:20PM ET

A large number of MAGA social media influencers were exposed over the weekend as being being based in other countries. Podcaster Matt Binder posted screenshots showing that Charlie’s Voice Rising, a popular Charlie Kirk fan account, is based in Eastern Europe (non-EU).

One popular influencer wrote "wait this is crazy" along with a screenshot showing that Defiant Ls, a MAGA account that has 1.6 million followers, is from Japan. Dem influencer DreamLeaf wrote, "This one is great," along with evidence that a MAGA account called "Americaman" is actually based in Indonesia.

PatriotTakes, which is dedicated to research monitoring and exposing right-wing extremism and other threats to democracy, drew attention to post Trump himself had shared.

"Trump just boosted a MAGA account based in 'South Asia' #AmericaFirst," he wrote, before Brian Tyler Cohen said, "Perhaps it would be easier to identify which MAGA accounts are actually based *inside* the United States."

Most MAGAs threatening others probably don't even live in the US. They are foreign terrorists using Republicans, including elected ones that just want money.

Putin has minions in many countries that post propaganda. For that matter, someone in Trump’s orbit—perhaps one of his tech billionaires—could recruit foreign MAGA posters to boost Trump’s ratings.

The Dem Politcians should have been doing this all along........HELLO DEMS. ?????????????......

take any French History classes.........

Of course, they will just take their money and run to another country........many already have, and the amount it increasing according to the IRS.
The IRS says their two largest locations are the Scandinavian Countries and Dubai.......

(Actually most of their money is more than likely already off-shored in one of the other countries.....)

Today's ultra rich have no nation, no 'home'. They go/live where they like and where conditions suite them. They do not fear the masses because they own armies, whether national or mercenaries.

Nation states are for us peons. The ultra rich have no need and no limitations of such trivial local antics.

in the 1700's, when we first were finalizing our Democracy, who supposedly said:

"Democracy will work, until some individuals, or groups of individuals realize that they can vote themselves money"

And here we are......with the best Republican Politicians that money can buy...................

I gotta tell you, that this Republican CABAL, especially the women that surround Trump, are worse than the crack whore prostitutes that walk the streets of major cities........There are definitely things that the Crack Whores, will NOT do, for ANY amount of money.....

before I dropped it I used English to Russian translation tools on the Internet to leave nasty posts in Russian on the Facebook feeds of those so called MAGA posters that I suspected were Russian plants or bots.

I always figured that at the least, even if they weren't actual Russians, they were probably being paid by Russia to post the crap they were posting.

That I am not American in my posts in recent years so no one makes such allegations against DU.

I am not an influencer anyway. This is a quiet message board and I went to school in the US (which is how I found it and started using it).

And DU has at least some posters from Australia and the UK etc. I keep my exact location undisclosed (issues with male creeps ) beyond, the global south.

I've always wondered why folks in other countries would be interested in American politics enough to join a forum.

Foreign DUers are not a problem. The social media trolls and bot farms sharing divisive hate to wind up MAGAts are the problem in the OP. Some are funded by foreign governments.

Mostly to gloom and doom in E&E with hatrack and the rest of the chain gang (NNadir, OkIsItJustMe etc ) in there . I left the US thanks to an unpleasant work experience in 2012, but came back to DU out of interest in American politics in 2020.

I am also Indian btw IronLionZion. I have read your posts over the years.

We see you, we appreciate you, and we know you are real people who believe in the same things we do! There is a huge difference between our foreign DU members and the automated bots that exist only to shit post in places like Twitter.

I haven't seen any evidence of bots posting here. I suspect their operators know we aren't worth bothering with, because this is a place people join because we believe in something, and that something is not what they're selling!

Do people not understand how proxies, VPNs, and IP geolocation works?

It's a mistake to assume these people's physical locations based on their posting IP.

Yes, some of these might be foreign, but some likely are not.

Younger Americans leaving the US and setting up shop in other countries. They are granted ‘cyber work visa’s” or some such thing. They like the idea of traveling and experiencing other cultures instead of setting up deep roots here in the states where everything is so much more expensive. Their work is all online and there are countries that are very friendly to this.

My British husband’s son is a well paid programmer for telecom companies (Nokia I think). Spent lots of time in Southeast asia and just programmed and paid his way. He also hung out in Australia with his girl friend while programming working remotely.

So, although they are hailing from South America or Eastern Europe or wherever, they might still be actual Americans.
But, I know there are also plenty of trolls abroad who are heavily influencing us here in the states.

This is not a Kremlin conspiracy to undermine the US and boost MAGA. The main thing for these people is to create controversy on any suitable subject to gain traffic and by this earning money. Tracing their IPs you would find same persons running pro and contra account about Trump or Israel and Gaza and so on. Some of the biggest farms are in NATO countries like North Macedonia!
