Trump Canceling GDP Report Comes Under Scrutiny

Source: Newsweek

Nov 25, 2025 at 04:37 AM EST

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis said on Monday that it has canceled the release of its advance estimate of third-quarter GDP.

The department said the release was being canceled due to disruption caused by the federal government shutdown, but the announcement has sparked criticism and speculation that the report is being held because of disappointing data. Newsweek contacted the White House and the BEA via email on Tuesday outside of regular working hours.

Why It Matters

The GDP report becomes the latest government data to be delayed because of the lingering impacts of the federal government shutdown, following other missed releases such as the October jobs report.

The data delays are fueling speculation about the true state of the economy, at a time when President Donald Trump continues to highlight strong growth while concerns over affordability and unemployment persist.

That basically said “a functioning government would be bad for the market”

I think this is the one you are talking about - Why a functional U.S. government could actually trigger a bear market

The reasoning sortof makes sense though -

Economic theory provides the rationale for this correlation. According to the late Polish economist Michal Kalecki, the public sector’s deficit equals the private sector’s surplus. Vincent Deluard of StoneX Group explained the implication of this relationship, known as the Kalecki Equation: “When the government spends a trillion dollars on green infrastructure, data centers or vaccines, private businesses and employees eventually cash the check.”

The above meaning a higher GDP.

Right now, the markets are WAY overdue for a correction from the gluttony of the AI fervor, but then if you have people with 401(K)s invested in stocks, that means the nest egg is higher too.

Some did yes, but a lot are still looking. Many more have given up finding a job. It's true that we Americans like to spend money we don't have, but that can only continue for so long. When the joy ride is over, it's over.

such data must be kept hidden for our own safety because our heads would explode. Just trust that's it's all super good and ignore your own lying eyes. Look over there, that foreigner is trying to steal your job. MAGA!

I know this is a constant... It could be repeated daily for any one of a million things Tangeranus does... but could you imagine the press coverage if President Biden just cancelled an economic report??

I'm beyond sick of the way he'd coddled by the press. Like chris cilizza writing (after numbnuts said something awful), "This is just how he talks..." Oh. Okay then.

19. So how bad are the numbers?
Wed Nov 26, 2025, 08:43 AM

I mean if the numbers were even close to what they were last time, the pile of sycophants pedo Trump pushes onto the government would have published them.

So they have to be pretty bad. The lost beef and soy bean contracts have got to effect it to some extent. The loss of consumer confidence is a clear indication of a drop in expenditures. And the federal government is only spending money on revenge, pedo Trump vanity projects and scams. And business investments are probably all in the form of bribes and pay outs to the pedo Trump.

How low can the numbers go?
