Danish PM strikes defiant tone on Greenland in New Year's speech as Trump rehashes annexation plans: 'we will stand firm

The prime minister of Denmark has issued a defiant rebuke to U.S. President Donald Trump in her annual New Year's speech, insisting that it will "stand firm" against his plans to take over Greenland.

In a televised message Thursday evening, Mette Frederiksen, of the ruling Social Democrats party, said she was rapidly beefing up the Scandinavian kingdom's military force and strengthening security in the Arctic.

Her theme was echoed by King Frederik X's annual New Year's Eve address, who highlighted new military training programs and praised Greenlanders' "strength and pride" in a "turbulent time".

It comes after Trump renewed his campaign to annex the autonomous Danish territory by appointing a new special envoy with the declared intention of "mak[ing] Greenland a part of the U.S." "Never before have we increased our military strength so significantly, so quickly," Frederiksen told viewers, according to the Danish daily newspaper Berlingske.

of all these things being wanted by Putin?????????

I know the Greenland thing is because he wants all the mineral/oil rights below it, including the offshore oil/mineral rights.
More importantly he wants to open up a North passage from the atlantic to the pacific oceans which as a trade route would cut tens of thousands of miles off current distances.......But Putin needs to conquer, or have Trump conquer and take possession of not only Greenland, but Canada and Iceland........sounding familiar?????????? Putin is already producing many of the largest nuclear powered ice breakers in the world........

Hell, Trump couldn't even find Nigeria or Venezuela on a map, we can only surmise that Putin is pushing Trump to take them over.....

More important an annexation will go against the UN Charter:

- All Members shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security, and justice, are not endangered.
- All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.

These word are reflected in the NATO Treaty:
... The Parties undertake, as set forth in the Charter of the United Nations, to settle any international dispute in which they may be involved by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security and justice are not endangered, and to refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force in any manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations. ...

So yes, your government should not be doing this against us, or even threaten do to it, thanks!

BTW. NATO article 5 does not demand, that the other countries immediately send armed troops. These parties shall be taking such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force. The action chosen is not automatically given, and could fx be a sharp diplomatic letter. All the talk about this as an Musketeers Oath is just BS!
