Major protests break out across Iran as government seeks rare dialogue with demonstrators

Source: AOL

Huge protests over Iran’s soaring cost of living boiled over on Tuesday as students joined shopkeepers in daring demonstrations against the regime.

Hundreds of students rallied across four universities in Tehran for a third day of protests, after bazaar merchants took to the streets, chanting slogans and occupying the roads.

Chants could be heard in support of Reza Shah, the late founder of the royal dynasty ousted by the Islamic Revolution.

Some Iranians also took to social media to voice their outrage. One user, Soroosh Dadkhah, said that high prices and corruption had led people “to the point of explosion”.

…on my 2026 bingo card.

Although, I guess it would be predictable, given the way things are going, for Iran to go from the current brutal authoritarian dictatorship straight into their previous brutal authoritarian dictatorship.

Pahlavi is also a lot more liberal than his dad was.

Restored with curbs on the king's power. Perhaps the same thing will happen in Iran.

Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the last shah of Iran, thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his “support” of Iranian protesters on Friday.

“President Trump, thank you for your strong leadership and support of my compatriots. This warning you have issued to the criminal leaders of the Islamic Republic gives my people greater strength and hope—hope that, at last, a President of the United States is standing firmly by their side,” Pahlavi said on X.

Reza Pahlavi loves psychopaths, he's a psychopath himself or he doesn't understand that Trump’s a psychopath.

I'm almost endlessly disappointed by people in positions of power all over the world.

Especially by their glaring naivete and stupidity.

It's like mollifying a child who's acting up in a grocery store. It's not the right policy in the long run, but it's what needs to be done in the moment.

And if Trump offers support to get rid of the clerics, I’m not sure why he’d refuse.

Trump can't be trusted. He's a compulsive liar. A psychopath...

There's always an ulterior motive involved with a psychopath. Nothing that a psychopath does comes without consequences.

Destructive consequences are the terminal objective with the psychopath.

It's exactly why everything he touches dies, ETTD.

It's the nature of any relationship with a psychopath. Chaos will always be the result.

I hope the Iranian government doesn’t respond with mass killings and bloodshed like they have in the past
