Indian guru says victim 'as guilty as her rapists'

Source: tv new zealand

Asaram Bapu said that the victim, whose fate has drawn the sympathy of the world and been treated as a national tragedy within India, was "as guilty as her rapists".

He added that she should have been more friendly to her attackers if she wanted to preserve her own life, Britain's The Daily Mail reported.

"Only five to six people are not the culprits," Bapu was quoted as saying. "The victim is as guilty as her rapists.

"She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to stop."

A spokesman for the leader denied that he had been insensitive about the woman's death, but added: "If she would have taken God's name or recited a mantra God inside her might have suggested her to how to avoid such crimes."

The guru abandoned his family as a young man to live in an ashram and practice meditation, before starting up his own his own ashram in Ahmedabad, The Daily Mail reported.

There's no bullshit that's sweeter to shit eaters than the bullshit backed up by religion.

Gays, gals, guns, beatin's and treatin's, slavery and slavering, all so annoyingly repressed, contested or promoted in some big poohba's name, promoted with old-timey power approved by ye gawds.

Can we move on, please?

bad combination.

He is a self-appointed guru not that he has gained any knowledge via education. Just like in other countries, such people get the following of the crazies. His comments were politically suicidal at this time.

The overwhelming public sentiment in India is so full of outrage against the rapists, this guy will feel the heat and will probably say he was misquoted in a couple of days. It will be difficult for even his loyal devotees to stomach this.

Not just what the educated people think in India about this man but what the population as a whole thinks...Because in cases like this many times it turns out there is a majority support due to the rural population. And there are far more uneducated people in India than educated. It is hard to change the minds of those who only know one thing RELIGION...Especially religion mixed with ancient cultural practices!

she was raped! Kinda like "Legitimate Rape" here in the US...A girl would not get pregnant if she was "Legitimately Raped" because GAWD has designed the female body to reject rapist semen.

It really is that simple.

http://readersupportednews.org/opinion2/304-justice/15388-judge-demands-shredded-vagina-as-proof-of-rape

THE COURT (Judge Johnson, to be exact): I spent my last year and a half in the DA's office in the sexual assault. I've seen sexual assault. I've seen women who have been ravaged and savaged whose vagina was shredded by the rape. I'm not a gynecologist, but I can tell you something: If someone doesn't want to have sexual intercourse, the body shuts down. The body will not permit that to happen unless a lot of damage is inflicted, and we heard nothing about that in this case. That tells me that the victim in this case, although she wasn't necessarily willing, she didn't put up a fight. And to treat this case like the rape cases that we all hear about is an insult to victims of rape. I think it's an insult. I think it trivializes a rape.

An application was today moved in a local court seeking direction to lodge a criminal case against spiritual leader Asaram Bapu for his remarks in connection with the Delhi gang-rape case.

The application was moved in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajesh Upadhyaya by social activist Madan Lal Shukla. The applicant has alleged that Asaram Bapu made the statement to insult women, which was an offence under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), his counsel Pramod Kumar said. The words of the spiritual leader were deplorable not only for the victim, but for entire womanhood, he alleged ...

25. Asaram Bapu calls critics 'barking dogs', adds to gangraped girl's humiliation, then 'apologises'
Tue Jan 8, 2013, 01:10 PM
Jan 2013

New Delhi, Tue Jan 08 2013, 21:14 hrs

Day after letting loose extremely derogatory remarks against Delhi gangraped victim who died after days of waging a courageous fight against the horrific injuries she suffered during the crime, Asaram Bapu ratcheted up his insensitive tirade against her by refusing to apologise and in fact went much further to call all critics and the media 'barking dogs' for raising a controversy over his 'innocuous' comments ...

Asaram later told reporters his remarks about the gangrape victim were misconstrued by his critics and the media.

The spiritual leader claimed if his speech was understood in the proper context people would be respecting him for his comments in the Delhi gangrape case ...

In a queer manner of revoking his words, Asaram said that he would 'apologise a thousand times' if there was a valid reason for doing so, but since there were none, 'what can be done' ...

“I talked about the girl very lovingly. How can I be so cruel and say that the girl was to be blamed. She is the victim,” he added.

The self-proclaimed godman also told the TV channel that when he loved even a snake how could he say anything untoward about the media?

“I can never say that media barks,” he said ...

and I certainly do hope the good people in his area of India run him out of town in shame.

The victim is never guilty of her rape. EVER.

Why wasn't a mantra of God recited by the rapists before they got it in their heads to attack Ms. Singh Pandey's boyfriend? Where was God's name before they began raping Ms. Pandey? God never intervines in a crime and stops it. If he did, we would not need police.

She did not deserve this.
