Donald Trump is demanding a federal judge block his Department of Justice from releasing Jack Smiths report on the presidents alleged hoarding of government documents and classified materials at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
The president filed a motion Tuesday arguing that the release of the former special counsels "inherently biased report would "irreparably harm the president and his former co-defendants.
Florida District Judge Aileen Cannon the Trump-appointed judge who dismissed the case against the president in 2024 had previously blocked the Justice Department from sharing a redacted version of the Mar-a-Lago report with members of Congress, ensuring that Smiths final report wouldnt see the light of day during his first months back in office.
The judge will now decide whether that report can ever be released.

(27 posts)Here we go again. Trump is running to Aileen Cannon, who previously tried to drop this case to ensure Jack Smith's final report is never seen by the American people.
Consider the absurdity of this situation. The President is proposing to prevent his own Justice Department from releasing a report on his own alleged crimes. If the report is as "biased" and "baseless" as he claims, why is he so afraid of the public reading it?
This isn't "irreparable damage" for Trump, it's irreparable damage to the truth. Cannon has been acting like Trump's personal defense counsel for years, not an impartial judge. We have a right to know what's in those boxes at Mar-a-Lago. The truth coming to light is the only disinfectant, and they're trying to keep us in the dark.
