America faces significant threats to our nation's infrastructure from hostile actors like Russia, China, and others. But a leaked security threats assessment from President Donald Trump's administration says the greatest threat America faces is within its own borders, according to a new report.
Each year since 2020, the Department of Homeland Security has published a Homeland Threat Assessment, a report that describes the specific threats America faces. A lot of the usual suspects are present: crime, drug gangs, illegal immigration, and so on. But a new crop of characters appeared in this year's report, which has not yet been made public, according to independent journalist Ken Klippenstein.
Klippenstein received a leaked copy of the report, which now focuses on terrorism stemming from class-based or economic grievances.
"The phrase could as much refer to an angry MAGA Midwesterner as it could any Mamdani-supporting urban dweller," Klippenstein wrote in a new Substack essay. "But the focus is clear: the main threat to the 'homeland,' DHS thinks, is the American people."

Excuse me!??!
Thats your job, dipshits! To straighten that out, not view it as a threat.
Thats what trump ran on, which makes it even more egregious.

The poors are not grateful to me
but a case could be made that the predatory nature and actions of the ultra wealthy is a serious problem which should be addressed.
But that will never happen.

I no longer adhere to the tired and smug belief that "It can't happen here." The problem seems to be that when you cut off the heads of the rich, the "little people" gravitate towards leaders who too often prove no better -- even worse -- than the headless rich were.
and very, very sad.

(105,687 posts)Right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat, experts in the Department of Homeland Security wrote. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists including lone wolves or small terrorist cells to carry out violence.
It was one of DHS most explicit mentions of homegrown terrorists since 9/11, one with a direct connection to the military.
But the call to action was effectively buried after powerful Republican politicians and their allies in the right-wing media launched broadsides against President Barack Obamas administration and Democrats, alleging that they had disrespected the men and women in the U.S. military while attempting to surveil and silence conservatives. The blowback shifted the debate away from how to actually address the threat and into another partisan public spectacle.

And it turned out the right-wing was the problem, of course - and not just the Jan 6th riot, invasion of Congress and coup attempt - but Trump's minions are trying to cover that up:
The 2024 study, in which several criminal justice researchers reviewed National Institute of Justice data, found far more instances of deaths credited to right-wing groups.
The study was still available on the Justice Department website last week, but a researcher on extremism posted on social media that it had been removed in the days after the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
...
Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists, including 227 events that took more than 520 lives, the study states.
In this same period, far-left extremists committed 42 ideologically motivated attacks that took 78 lives.

I believe far right Americans remain the biggest terror threat to the USA. But this DOJ will never admit it.

I guess I am a terrorist, then.
Hopefully they will come take care of me as quickly as they can.
Stupid bastards.
(I hope everyone realizes that this 'statement' now gives them cart blanche to attack anyone they want to. ANYONE. Your birthright means nothing to them. Just theirs. But, it appears that the rest of the nation is okay with this, because again, this regime is still here.)

(3,493 posts)... behind this obscene report have apparently discarded the generally accepted belief that the people are the nation, not the Trump regime and its malevolent minions. It is WAY past time to disabuse them of this frivolous notion.

The passage of the patriot act and creation of DHS may have been the seeds leading to this countrys downfall. Theyre doing more damage to this nation ina more fundamental way than Al Qaeda or other terrorists could have imagined.
