Vance pledges anti-abortion policies after White House deemed soft

Source: Roll Call

Posted January 23, 2026 at 4:10pm

Thousands of marchers descended on the National Mall Friday as some of the nation’s most powerful politicians pledged to take the next steps to ending abortion. The annual March for Life rally serves as a key jumping point for abortion-related policy announcements from conservatives. But anti-abortion advocates had warned that the Trump administration has not done enough to advance their cause and that could have political ramifications.

On Friday, the White House doubled down on its support for anti-abortion priorities, with Vice President JD Vance acknowledging the “elephant in the room” that “our politics have failed to answer the clarion call to life that this march represents.”

“So let me tell you something very simple, under this administration … you have an ally in the White House,” he told the crowd, his presence a nod to this year’s theme, “Life is a Gift.” Earlier this week he and his wife, second lady Usha Vance, announced they are expecting their fourth child in July.

Vance and others highlighted a number of changes implemented in year since the last march, where Vance made his first public speech as vice president. Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for example, pointed to House passage of two pregnancy-related bills this week that seek to uplift pregnancy information resources as an alternative to abortion. Johnson also noted last year’s defunding of Planned Parenthood through the GOP reconciliation law.

Election Day 2026 in the United States is the general Election Day for federal, state, and many local offices, and it falls on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. That’s the date when voters across the country cast ballots for members of the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate (in the seats up that cycle), governors in many states, state legislators, and other offices as part of the 2026 midterm elections.

4. If Republicans think life is a gift, then why have they increased maternal and child deaths with their policies?

For them, life is important only if the pregnant woman is white and financially able to get any and all medical treatment needed to save her life—in a blue state.

It is about getting back at women enjoying their sexuality and controlling the # of children they should have to survive.

They are jealous as always...part of the evangelical christian personality.

What bullshit. For them, the sanctity of human life stops at birth. They find comfort in their feigned self-righteousness.

10. I never thought I would see them deny Jesus' teachings out loud like they do now.

They say that somehow, in their twisted interpretation of Christianity, they no longer need to follow any of the mandates of Jesus.

I am not religious, but I find this group of amoral people fascinating...and very dangerous.

Lack of birth control.

Throw out all the working immigrants, then breed your way to success.
